NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job – Turnersville, New Jersey

Position Details

• Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
• Contract Length: 13 weeks
• Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 3 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend (Saturday and Sunday)
• Holiday Requirement: One summer holiday, one winter evening, and one winter night shift (assigned based on need)
• Floating: Not required
• Charting System: Epic
• Scrub Color: Navy Blue
• First-time travelers: Accepted

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
• Minimum 1 year of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nursing experience within the last year
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance and Background Checks

• 7-year criminal background check within 90 days of start, including all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required upon hire
• Education verification or official transcript (diploma not accepted)
• Drug screening: 10-panel drug test within 60 days prior to start (9-panel without THC acceptable)
• State-specific checks (if applicable)

Health and Safety Requirements

• Physical exam within 2 months of start (no annual update required)
• Fit test for N95 mask (3M 1870+ model) within 12 months prior to start; must be completed before start
• Current Tdap vaccine or titer
• Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT) within 90 days of start; chest X-ray if positive test
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or positive titers for:

  • Measles (Rubeola)
  • Mumps
  • Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (series, titer, or declination)
  • Varicella
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (Oct 1 – Apr 1)
• COVID-19 vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption required prior to start; candidates with exemptions must wear enhanced masks at work; COVID booster required for New Jersey locations

Orientation and Competency

• Completion of assigned facility-specific education modules (~6 hours) prior to orientation
• Pass/fail basic dysrhythmia exam during orientation (one attempt only)
• Medication/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Signed acknowledgment of safety manual and pass/fail testing requirements

Additional Notes

• No on-call requirements
• No floating to other units
• Facility will provide first day instructions directly to the traveler
• Prior travel experience is not required for this position
