Description

Surgical Technologist (CVOR Tech) - Travel/Contract Position

Location: Mountain Home, Arkansas
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

  • Assist in surgical operations under supervision of surgeons, registered nurses, or other surgical personnel.
  • Responsibilities include setting up the operating room, preparing and transporting patients for surgery, adjusting lights and equipment, passing instruments and supplies, holding retractors, cutting sutures, and counting sponges, needles, supplies, and instruments.
  • Provide direct patient care in the perioperative unit.
  • Must be proficient in a wide variety of advanced surgical technologist skills.
  • Adhere to perioperative care standards and promote teamwork.
  • Work schedule: 5 shifts per week, 8 hours per shift (Day shift: 6:30 AM – 3:00 PM).
  • Call required.
  • Work environment is a hospital setting open 24/7, including holidays and inclement weather.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid CVOR Technologist license in Arkansas.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a CVOR Technologist.
  • CVOR Technologist experience within the last year.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.

Physical Demands

  • Ability to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
  • Ability to stand, walk, bend, squat, and twist for 8 to 12 hours per shift.
  • Occasionally lift 50 pounds or more of equipment and assist in lifting patients up to 125 pounds using proper body mechanics.
  • Must respond quickly in emergency situations including CPR and equipment retrieval.
  • Ability to handle stressful situations with composure.
  • Keen hearing and visual acuity to monitor patient status and equipment alarms.
  • May be exposed to environmental hazards such as electrical currents, high heat, chemicals, infectious diseases, and potentially challenging patient populations.

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security card required.
  • E-Verify or attestation required.
  • Background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, sex offender, and state-specific criminal history checks required within 30 days of start.
  • Education verification and work history verification (past 2 years) required.
  • References: 2 references required within 3 years of start.
  • Competency exams and medication/pharmacology competency tests required as applicable.
  • Annual updates required for certain certifications and safety acknowledgments.
  • Facility-specific dress code and personal appearance policies must be reviewed prior to start.
  • TB questionnaire required regardless of TB test result.
  • Seasonal influenza vaccination or documented declination required during flu season (Oct 1 – Mar 31).
  • COVID vaccination documentation required or exemption/declination notification.

Additional Notes

  • This position is safety sensitive under Arkansas medical marijuana regulations.
  • Fit testing for masks will be completed onsite during orientation.
  • Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this role.
