Cath Lab Tech - Travel/Contract
Location: Weston, Florida
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Summary
Seeking a team player with experience in Cardiac Cath Lab procedures. This is a travel/contract position with a start date approximately 3-4 weeks after orientation. The role requires call coverage and floating within scope to meet facility needs, including floating to three nearby hospitals within a 20-mile radius.
Work Schedule
- Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
- Guaranteed hours: 40 hours per week
- Call is required
- Weekend requirements can be discussed with the manager
- Block scheduling is not accommodated
Required Experience
- Minimum 18 months of experience in Cardiac Cath Lab specialty
- 2 years preferred
- First-time travelers accepted (no prior travel experience required)
Certifications & Licenses
- Certified or Registered Cardiovascular Technologist (RCVT) preferred
- Registered Cardiovascular Invasive Specialist (RCIS) also preferred
- AHA ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) required
- BLS (Basic Life Support) required
- National certification preferred but not required
- State license not required for this position
Key Requirements & Conditions
- Must be nicotine-free; negative 10-panel drug screen plus nicotine (cotinine) test required
- Government-issued photo ID must be carried during hours of service
- Call coverage is mandatory
- Floating to sister facilities within 20 miles is required
- Time-sensitive training modules must be prioritized and completed before start
- No pending licenses accepted
- All requested time off (RTO) must be submitted upfront with the application
Facility & Documentation Requirements
- Facility is smoke-free
- Uses EPIC for charting
- Free parking available in unrestricted spaces
- Short-term acute care facility with 180 staffed beds
Onboarding & Compliance
- Background checks: 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required and must be current
- Fingerprinting: Florida AHCA Level II fingerprint clearance required prior to start; Livescan electronic fingerprinting accepted nationwide
- Physical exam within 6 months of start required
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year required, updated annually
- Immunizations required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, Varicella (vaccines or titers)
- Seasonal flu vaccine required during flu season (medical/religious exemptions allowed)
- COVID-19 vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
- Drug screen: Negative 10-panel within 1 year of start; no Florida Medical Marijuana card accepted
- Two professional references within 2 years required
- Employment application and skills checklist must be completed and updated annually
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start is mandatory (must be done on a computer using Google Chrome)
Additional Notes
- Clinician will float within scope to meet facility needs
- Scrub technologist experience in Cath Lab preferred
- Modules and onboarding process may take multiple days and must not be delayed
- Candidates returning to the facility after a break longer than 6 months may need to re-orient and complete modules again
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Cath Lab Technologist license in Florida
- Minimum 1.5 years of experience as a Cath Lab Technologist
- Cath Lab Technologist experience within the last year
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
