Contract Length
- Approximately 13 weeks
Shift Details
- 12-hour shifts: 7 AM–7 PM or 7 PM–7 AM
- 8-week scheduling cycle including every other weekend and holiday
- Efforts made to accommodate preferred shifts and block scheduling when possible, but not guaranteed
- Clinicians generally have a consistent schedule pattern and are not expected to routinely switch between day and night shifts
- May be asked to temporarily adjust shifts based on staffing needs
Unit Overview
- Obstetrics/Labor, Delivery, Recovery, Postpartum (OB/LDRP) unit
- Average monthly deliveries: 80–90 (varies by month)
- Mix of experienced RNs and new graduates gaining specialized OB experience
- Travelers play an essential role supporting patient care, especially due to new graduate RNs
- Unit features:
- 4 Labor/Delivery/Recovery rooms with private bath, shower, and spa tub
- 8 postpartum rooms with refrigerators and fold-out couches
- Operating rooms for Caesarean births
- Special care nursery
Required Qualifications
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in good standing
- Preferred: Minimum 3 years of obstetrics nursing experience
- Candidates with less than 3 years of OB experience may be considered if they have prior travel experience or have worked in a specialized OB setting
- Certifications:
- Basic Life Support (BLS)
- Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP)
- Intermediate Fetal Monitoring Certification (AWHONN/Fetal Heart Monitoring)
Prior Travel Experience
- Considered favorably if less than 3 years OB experience, but not explicitly required
Holiday Coverage
- Required to work every other holiday, similar to full-time staff
- Holiday requests approved based on unit needs
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- Immunizations and health screenings required prior to onboarding:
- MMR
- Hepatitis B
- Influenza vaccine
- Varicella
- Tdap (optional)
- TB test and annual TB questionnaire
- Fit test
- Physical/Health statement
- Background and credential verifications required:
- Criminal background check
- Education and employment verification
- Professional references (2)
- National and state sex offender registry checks
- License verification (including Nursys)
- Skills and competency assessments:
- Core competencies
- Unit exam
- Skills checklist
- Drug screening required
- Submission requirements include resume, skills checklist, license verification, BLS, and any additional certifications
