Job Opportunity: PCU Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: New Haven, Connecticut

Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

• Position in Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with mechanical ventilation experience required.
• Patient population includes Pulmonary Step Down Unit patients with mechanical ventilation and tracheostomy care.
• Average nurse-to-patient ratio: 1:3.
• Weekend work required every other weekend.
• Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs.
• First-time travel nurses accepted.
• Pending license accepted but must be active prior to start date.
• Guaranteed hours.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut.
• Minimum 2 years of Progressive Care Unit (PCU) experience, including experience within the last year.
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
• Experience in ICU (Intensive Care Unit), telemetry, mechanical ventilation, and tracheostomy care.
• Certifications:

  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification

Facility & Work Environment

• Short Term Acute Care facility with Level I Trauma Center designation.
• Total staffed beds: 1,567.
• Electronic health record system: Epic.
• Parking cost: $125/month.

Additional Notes

• On-call is not required.
• Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions: RTO greater than 7 days requires approval.
• Candidates must provide photo ID matching legal name on first day.
• Foreign-educated candidates must provide foreign equivalency education evaluation and diploma.
• Pending licenses must be active before start date.
• Various background checks including EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG required within 30 days of start.
• Candidates must complete all required training modules and attestations prior to or during orientation.
