Description

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a PCU (Progressive Care Unit) position at a large Level I Trauma Center, requiring vent and tracheostomy experience with night shift availability.

• Work in a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) at a large, short-term acute care Level I Trauma Center and academic medical center with 1,500+ beds
• Patient population includes pulmonary step-down patients requiring mechanical ventilation
• Average patient ratio of 1:3
• Night shift schedule: 3x12-hour shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
• Required to work every other weekend
• Floating within scope required to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling is not available
• Charting via Epic
• No on-call requirements
• Parking available at an additional cost (~$125/month)

Requirements

• Active CT or Compact RN license required (pending license accepted, but must be active prior to start date)
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• ICU, ventilator, telemetry, and tracheostomy experience required
• Trauma center experience at a large facility required
• No prior disciplinary actions or priors on nursing license
• 1 professional reference required for consideration

Additional Information

• Care for pulmonary step-down patients on mechanical ventilation in a high-acuity PCU environment
• Flu vaccine is required; declinations are not accepted
• COVID vaccine required; religious or medical exemptions may be considered

• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be eligible for this position
• Former permanent staff must have been separated for at least 2 years before being considered as a traveler
• RTO of 7 days or fewer may be approved by the facility; requests exceeding 7 days require additional approval
• Travelers are expected to participate in natural disaster or emergency response activities as needed
