Registered Nurse - NICU (Texas, Odessa)

Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Work in a high-risk Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU)
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and STABLE certification required
  • Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience required
  • Prior travel nursing experience required

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
  • Minimum 2 years of Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) nursing experience, with at least some experience within the last year
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification
  • STABLE certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Previous travel nursing experience

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of NICU nursing experience
  • Prior travel nursing experience required

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start date
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (chest X-ray required within 2 years for positive responders)
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-April)
  • COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required (annual boosters not required)
  • Fit test for N-95 mask within 1 year, updated annually (specific mask types required; PAPR not accepted)
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Drug testing plan must be in place within 72 hours of contract signing

Background and Compliance

  • 7-year background check required within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
  • Education verification and transcript required for laboratory positions (not applicable here)
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
  • Government-issued photo ID required
  • E-Verify or attestation required
  • Completion of facility-specific documents including:
    • Notice of Employment
    • Standards of Conduct and Behavior
    • Dress Code Policy Acknowledgement
    • Agency Checklist
    • COVID declination if applicable
    • HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (within 72 hours of signing)
    • Orientation and Safety Training Modules (within 72 hours of signing)
    • Annual TB questionnaire
  • References: 2 required within 3 years of start
  • Employment application or resume required
  • Skills checklist updated annually

Additional Notes

  • Candidate must complete all required facility-specific forms prior to start
  • Orientation and safety training modules are time sensitive and must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing
  • Pass/fail pharmacology exam allows 3 attempts; study materials provided onsite
  • Returning candidates must update certain documents if there is a gap of more than 30 days between assignments
