Description

Job Opportunity: Registered Nurse – Neuro ICU (Travel/Contract)

Location

  • Camden, New Jersey
  • Must float between ICU and PCU units
  • Required to float within 5 hospitals within skillset (locations include Voorhees, Marlton, Mt. Holly, Willingboro, and the primary hospital)

Contract Details

  • Length: 13 weeks
  • Shift: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
  • Block scheduling is NOT allowed
  • Return to Office (RTO) documentation required at time of submission; late submissions will not be accepted

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New Jersey
  • Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience, with Neuro ICU experience within the last year
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Required Certifications & Testing

  • ACLS and BLS (AHA or ARC only)
  • Dysrhythmia competency test (pass/fail, required for ICU and PCU units)
  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • NIH Stroke Certification required for ICU, Medical Surgical, and Telemetry RNs
  • Color Blind Testing (within 1 year of start)
  • Annual flu vaccination or approved exemption required (flu season ends 3/31; documentation must include lot number, expiration date, administering provider, date, injection site, and manufacturer)
  • 10-panel drug screen without THC panel within 6 months of start (updated annually)
  • Fit mask test must be completed at designated Occupational Health within first week of assignment (outside fit tests not accepted)
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start (with specific requirements for positive responders)
  • Visual acuity exam (20/40 or better)
  • Latex questionnaire
  • Pass/Fail testing acknowledgment and compliance

Health & Background Requirements

  • Physical exam within last 12 months
  • Background check: 7-year criminal history, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks required
  • Education verification (diploma/transcript acceptable)
  • NURSYS verification for RN license
  • Employment application and work history verification (minimum 1 year prior work history verified with no gaps over 30 days)
  • Two professional references within last 2 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Facility-specific documents including government-issued photo ID, badge photo, and others as required

Additional Information

  • Candidates must be prepared to float between multiple hospital locations within the system based on staffing needs
  • Dysrhythmia test failure or failure to complete within timeframe results in contract cancellation and denial of rehire
  • Local rate adjustment applies for candidates living within 50 miles of the hospital (pay details excluded per instructions)
  • Candidates cannot start first shift without completing the fit mask test at Occupational Health
  • All certifications must be current and valid at contract start date

This position is ideal for experienced Neuro ICU RNs comfortable with floating across multiple units and facilities, working night shifts, and meeting rigorous competency and health requirements.
