Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Pueblo, Colorado
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Position Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse – Labor and Delivery
  • Shifts: Night shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (17:45 – 06:15)
  • Patient Ratio: 1 nurse to 2 patients
  • Unit: Women’s and Infants Labor & Delivery (14 staffed beds)
  • Work Environment: Fast-paced, approximately 150 births per month
  • Responsibilities include circulating in the OR, placing internal monitors, OB triage, managing laboring and high-risk obstetrics patients
  • Charting system: Epic
  • Weekend and on-call shifts required as per unit needs
  • Scrub color: Navy

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Colorado
  • Minimum 2 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Certifications:
    • BLS issued by American Heart Association
    • ACLS
    • NRP
    • AWHONN Intermediate Fetal Monitoring certification
    • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) proficiency

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Valid Driver’s License/State ID (clear copies front and back)
  • E-Verify or Attestation
  • Proof of legal name change if applicable
  • Background checks within 60 days of start, including:
    • 7-year background check with SSN trace, Colorado CBI, education verification (accredited nursing school), sex offender search, OFAC sanctions list
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification or transcript/diploma (accredited by CCNE or ACEN)
  • NURSYS verification for RN license within 60 days of start
  • Colorado CAPS check results within 60 days of start
  • Employment application and work history verification covering last 3 years (gaps >30 days must be explained)
  • Two professional references from the last two years (one from the last year), from Charge RN, Manager, or Supervisor level
  • Annual skills checklist and competency exams (medication, dysrhythmia/EKG, core parts I-III, OSHA mandatory) with minimum 80% score
  • UCHealth CO CAPS Release Authorization annually with 5 years of address history

Health & Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start, signed by MD, DO, NP, or PA
  • Fit mask test within 12 months of start, updated annually (3M 1860S, 1860R, 1870/1870+ masks accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years or signed declination within 1 year
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year, with annual TB questionnaire if positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive MMR IGG titer or 2 vaccines; boosters required if titers negative/equivocal
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer, completed vaccine series, or declination; booster required if low titer
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster required if titer negative/equivocal
  • Drug testing within 30 days of start and updated annually (specific panel including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
  • COVID-19 vaccination proof or signed declination (acceptable vaccines: AstraZeneca, Pfizer, Moderna)
  • Color blindness testing via Ishihara exam (online testing not accepted for new candidates)

Additional Notes

  • Return to Office (RTO) days limited to 10 maximum
  • RTO not allowed during specific blackout periods in 2026 (June 28–July 9, Sept 2–12, Oct 25–Nov 4)
  • Candidates must confirm renewal plans for any certifications expiring within 90 days of assignment start to avoid clearance issues
  • Facility-specific new employee orientation modules must be completed within the first two weeks of assignment
