Description

Job Opportunity: RRT PICU (Respiratory / Neuro Diagnostics)

Location: Durham, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
Hours per Week: 36 hours


Job Description

  • Must have at least 2 years of experience in NICU, pediatric critical care, pediatrics, and emergency department (ED) settings.
  • Required to have Level IV NICU experience.
  • Experience with High frequency jet ventilator, Oscillating ventilator, and managing pediatric cardiac anomalies is mandatory.
  • Weekend work required: 6 weekend shifts per schedule (schedule published in 6-week blocks).
  • Orientation sessions occur bi-weekly.
  • First-time travelers are welcome.
  • Local candidates within 75 miles are considered.

Requirements/Qualifications

  • Valid Respiratory Therapist license in North Carolina
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
  • Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
  • Experience working with pediatric patients
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only

Required Certifications

  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA only
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) – AHA only
  • NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – AHA/AAP only
  • PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) – AHA only

Licensure

  • Must have a North Carolina RRT license (Respiratory Therapist Registered) in hand or be able to obtain it (processing takes 2-4 weeks).

Required Documents & Compliance

  • Valid government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license).
  • Social Security Card (if used for I9 verification).
  • Background checks including SSN trace, county, alias, nationwide, sex offender, international (if applicable), education verification, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG, and OFAC sanctions list search.
  • Education verification from an accredited Respiratory Care program.
  • Physical exam within 12 months of start (latex allergy acceptable).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 12 months (with specific documentation if history of positive PPD).
  • Required immunizations/vaccinations with no exemptions accepted:
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (every 10 years)
    • Measles (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Mumps (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Rubella (1 vaccine or positive titer)
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
    • Varicella (2 vaccines or positive titer)
    • Polio vaccine or signed attestation
    • Seasonal flu vaccine (required annually during flu season; no exemptions)
  • Negative 10-panel drug test including THC within 30 days of start (instant tests not accepted).
  • Two professional references from employment within the last 12 months, with at least one supervisor reference.
  • Employment application and skills checklist (updated annually).

Additional Requirements

  • Must set up a facility-specific Guest Account prior to clearance to access orientation and work systems.
  • Competency exams and unit-specific training must be completed as part of orientation.
  • Completion of required online modules prior to orientation.
  • Compliance with facility-specific onboarding processes including submission of badge photo and documentation.

Schedule & Work Environment

  • Day shifts only, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each.
  • Weekend shifts required (6 per schedule).
  • No on-call requirement.

Notes

  • Candidates with less than a 30-day gap between previous assignments at this facility may have some document requirements waived or accepted on file.
  • Candidates must be prepared to complete all required documentation and training within specified deadlines to avoid contract cancellation.
