OR Registered Nurse (RN) - Surgical Services

Location: Mountain Home, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks (travel assignment)
Shift: Day shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (0700 to ~1930, may end earlier if no cases but must remain available)
Call Requirement: 17-20 call shifts in an 8-week period, including 12-hour weeknight shifts and 24-hour weekend shifts
Call Response Time: 30 minutes

Job Description

• Work primarily in the Operating Room (OR) within a small surgical services team
• Typical cases include cholecystectomies, appendectomies, hernia repairs, abdominal hysterectomies, hysteroscopies, D&Cs, colonoscopies, endoscopies, and C-sections
• Support roles include pre-op and PACU; floating between these areas may be required if no surgeries are scheduled
• Scrubbing is not required but preferred
• Team consists of 4 RNs per shift: 1 pre-op, 1 OR, 1 PACU, 1 float nurse
• EMR system used: Epic
• Orientation: 2 days in OR plus some training in pre-op/PACU if assigned there (not extensive)
• Work environment is slow paced with significant downtime
• No onsite housing; RV sites available nearby; closest city with more housing options is Boise

Required Qualifications

• Current RN license
• Minimum 3 years of nursing experience required
• ACLS and BLS certifications mandatory
• Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification required
• Pre-op and PACU experience preferred but not mandatory

Additional Information

• Surgical suites: 2 total, only 1 room running at a time
• Average cases per day vary by weekday:

  • Monday & Wednesday: ~4 colonoscopies/endoscopies
  • Tuesday: 3-4 gynecological cases
  • Thursday: no scheduled cases unless emergent
  • Friday: ~5 cases
• No charge nurse role; surgical services overseen by administrative nurse manager
• OR tech support: 1-2 certified surgical techs per shift depending on the day
• Dress code: provided surgical scrubs
• Team-oriented environment with expectation to assist across roles as needed

This position is ideal for an experienced OR RN comfortable with call responsibilities, flexible floating duties, and working within a small, collaborative surgical team.
