Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech - Vascular
Location: New London, Connecticut
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Perform vascular ultrasound and echocardiography procedures.
- Schedule: 5 days a week, 8-hour shifts with start times between 7:00 AM and 9:00 AM depending on department needs.
- Work every other weekend.
- Float to other departments as needed.
- Facility type: Short-term acute care, Level III trauma center with 252 staffed beds.
- Charting system: EPIC.
- Scrub color: Teal.
- Free parking available.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 1 year of experience as a Vascular Sonographer, with recent experience within the last year.
- Certification: ARDMS or RDCS.
- Certification: CCI or RCS.
- Experience starting IVs or comfortable with IV starts.
Certifications (Must Have)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only.
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only.
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit assignment; verify with unit description.
Compliance and Background Requirements
- 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months prior to start; must be updated annually.
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start.
- Verification of highest level of education required; foreign equivalency evaluation required for internationally educated candidates.
- Employment application must include 7 years of work history with no gaps greater than 90 days.
- Work history verification required for the last 7 years.
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for Ultrasound Techs.
- Color Blind Testing required (must score 80% or higher).
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months of start (must score 85%).
- Physical exam required within 12 months of start.
- 10-panel drug screen required within 12 months of start.
- Fit mask test required within 12 months of start and must be updated annually (clean shaven required).
- TB screening: Negative T-Spot or QGold within 6 months, or 2 PPDs within 12 months.
- Annual TB questionnaire required.
- Immunizations/vaccinations: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (titers or vaccines or declination accepted).
- Seasonal flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season.
- COVID vaccination series preferred but not required.
Facility-Specific Training and Attestations (Required for Ultrasound Techs)
- Language Services Training (not required at this facility).
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training.
- Various patient care and safety modules including but not limited to:
- Stroke Education (not required at this facility).
- CLABSI Prevention (not required at this facility).
- Preventing Pressure Injury (not required at this facility).
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education (not required at this facility).
- Pyxis ES MedStation Modules (not required at this facility).
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training.
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED).
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for Ultrasound Techs).
- Chaperone Policy Training.
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026).
- Candidate must sign and return facility-specific attestations prior to start.
Shift Details
- Day shift, 5 days per week, 8 hours per day.
- Typical shift hours: 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM or 9:00 AM to 5:30 PM.
This position offers an opportunity to work in a high-acuity, trauma center environment with a reputable acute care facility. Candidates must meet all licensing, certification, and compliance requirements prior to start.
