Infusion Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Details
- Shift: Day shift, 4x12 hour shifts (7:00 AM - 7:30 PM)
- Schedule: Will work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Start Dates: 6/26 or 7/10; Friday start is virtual, onsite reporting Monday
- Work setting: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Float: May float to other MedSurg units as needed
- Charting system: EPIC required
- Uniform: Royal blue scrubs
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Registered Nurse license valid in Connecticut (primary source verification required within 30 days of start)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC only
- Chemotherapy certification (ONS/ONCC required)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required for all RNs except Behavioral Health, Case Management, Home Health, OR, Pediatric units, NICU, Labor and Delivery)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC only (recommended)
- Other certifications may be required depending on unit (verify with unit description)
Experience
- Specialty: Registered Nurse - Infusion
- Minimum years of experience: 3 years (based on chemo certification requirement and specialty)
- Prior travel experience: Not explicitly required
Competencies & Training Requirements
- Medication Test/Pharmacology Competency Exam (must score 85%)
- Color Blind Testing (required for all candidates starting 8/2/2024, must score 80%)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG Competency Exam (required for Telemetry, MedSurg/Tele, ER, ICU, Progressive Care, Stepdown, PACU, Cath Lab, Endoscopy, GI, Labor and Delivery units; not required for NICU, Psych/Behavioral Health, Pediatric, Ambulatory)
- EPIC testing or training (highly encouraged; onsite training provided if not completed prior)

- Patient Bedside Rounding Module (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RN except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
Health & Background Requirements
- Physical Exam within 12 months of start
- Fit Mask Test within 12 months of start; must be clean shaven for fit testing
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (acceptable tests include T-Spot, QGold, or 2 PPDs)
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Varicella
- Hepatitis B (or declination within 1 year)
- Tdap vaccination highly preferred for Pediatric specialties, Labor and Delivery, Postpartum (declination acceptable)
- 10 Panel Drug Screen within 12 months of start
- Seasonal Flu Vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination series preferred
Background Checks & Documentation
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months of start (must include SSN trace, counties lived/worked, statewide, national sex offender, national criminal, federal extended)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education verification including foreign equivalency evaluation if applicable
- Transcript or diploma verification as needed
- Sex offender search
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- References per standard requirements
Additional Notes
- Candidate must have photo ID matching legal name on first day
- Must be able to complete all required training modules and attestations (many can be completed via Docusign)
- Facility provides free parking
- This is a travel/contract position in a 426-bed acute care hospital
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Minimum of 1 year infusion nursing experience within the last year
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- Chemotherapy certification
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Experience with EPIC electronic health record system
