Cath Lab Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position

Location: Saint Louis, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse (Cath Lab)
  • Shift: Rotating 4x10 hour shifts (07:00-17:30 early, 07:00-17:30 late, 10:00-20:30 close as needed)
  • Patient Ratio: 1:1
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
  • On-Call: Rotating call including evenings, nights, weekends, and holidays
  • Floating: Yes, within service line scope
  • Block Schedule: Not accommodated
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (home address must be at least 75 miles from facility)
  • Pending License: Accepted
  • Return to Office Restrictions: No more than 7 days

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri (pending licenses accepted)
  • Minimum 2 years of Cardiac Cath Lab nursing experience, including interventional scrub experience
  • Cardiac Cath Lab experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued ID (Driver’s License/State ID)
  • Criminal background check within 6 months (including statewide, nationwide, and international if applicable)
  • Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree
  • Missouri-specific background checks including MO EDL, MO Highway Patrol, MO FCSR (Family Care Safety Registry)
  • Fingerprinting required for Illinois long-term care or rehab assignments (not required for Missouri)
  • Professional license primary source verification (NURSYS for Missouri)
  • Drug testing within 1 year of start, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) annually
  • Immunizations and health screenings:
    • Tdap vaccine or declination (every 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest x-ray with yearly questionnaire
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
    • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption during flu season (09/30 - 04/01)
  • Required facility-specific documents including HIPAA acknowledgement, confidentiality form, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail and dress code policies
  • Completion of facility orientation modules (approximately 16 hours) via online platform, required for all RNs

Competency Requirements

  • Unit-specific competency exams, including medication/pharmacology and dysrhythmia/EKG competency exams
  • Annual updates required for competency exams
  • Oncology competency exam required if assigned to Med Surg-Oncology unit
  • Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC) required for candidates extending past 9 months in Burn ICU

Additional Notes

  • Candidates must be willing to work rotating shifts and on-call schedules as needed
  • Parking is available with monthly passes at a cost; no reimbursement for parking fees
  • Candidates must adhere to all facility policies and complete all required documentation prior to start
  • Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
  • Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start

This position is ideal for experienced Cath Lab RNs seeking a travel contract in a high-acuity, level 1 trauma center environment with rotating shifts and on-call responsibilities. First-time travelers are accepted.
