Job Opportunity: Nuclear Medicine Tech
Location: Augusta, Georgia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks
Job Summary
- Specialty: Radiology / Cardiology (Nuclear Medicine Tech with PET experience)
- Patient Population: Adults to Geriatrics
- Shift: Day shift, typically 7:30 AM to 5:00 PM (5 days a week, 8 hours per day)
- Hours may vary slightly between 7:30-16:00 or 8:30-17:00
- Floating within facility as needed, within scope of practice
- Weekend schedule: Every other weekend
- Weekend call: 1 weekend per month
- Holiday work: Required to work major holidays depending on how many fall within assignment period (up to two holidays)
- Scrub color: Caribbean Blue
- Electronic systems used: Epic, Pyxis
- Return to Office (RTO) maximum: 7 days
Required Qualifications
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist
- Experience as a Nuclear Medicine Technologist within the last year
- Certification as a CNMT (Certified Nuclear Medicine Technologist)
- Certification from NMTCB (Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid Driver’s License or State ID (photo ID required)
- Background Check: Must be completed within 30 days prior to start, including county, national, sex offender, criminal, and education verifications
- Education Verification: Degree related to Nuclear Medicine must be verified; can be pending at start with proof of processing
- Physical Exam: Required within 12 months prior to start
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start (includes amphetamines, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, cocaine, opiates, methadone, PCP, propoxyphene, THC)
- Immunizations and Health Documentation:
- TB test (PPD, QGold, or TSpot) within 12 months or chest x-ray if prior positive
- TB Questionnaire (updated annually)
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella): 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Varicella: 2 vaccines or positive titer with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B: Surface antibody titer or signed declination
- Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Nov 1 - Mar 31)
- Tdap vaccine highly recommended but not required
- Color Blind Testing: Required; alternative assessment available if needed
- Skills Checklist: Must be current within 12 months
- Work History Verification: Verification of most recent employer required; can be pending at start with proof of processing
- References: Two clinical references required
Additional Notes
- Non-billable orientation hours are proportional to contract length (e.g., 8 hours for 8-week assignment)
- Candidate must review and sign facility’s Code of Conduct and Dress/Professional Appearance Policy prior to start
- Floating and call requirements are within the scope of practice and facility needs
- Clinical remediation is not allowed for competency exams; candidates have up to 3 attempts to pass required competency tests
This position offers an opportunity for Nuclear Medicine Technologists with PET experience to work in a dynamic adult to geriatric patient population on a travel contract basis in Georgia.
