ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Job - Big Spring, Texas
Job Details
- Position: ICU Registered Nurse
- Location: Big Spring, Texas
- Employment Type: Travel/Contract
- Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each; 7:00 PM to 7:00 AM)
- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Unit: General ICU (5 beds)
- Preferred Start Date: July 13
Required Certifications
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) - AHA or ARC accepted
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) - Required for ICU
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) - Preferred; ICU RNs have 1 year to obtain for longer assignments
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) - Preferred; ICU RNs have 1 year to obtain for longer assignments
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Procedure) - Required as applicable
- CHEMO (Chemotherapy) - Required as applicable
- ENPC (Emergency Nursing Pediatric Course) - Required as applicable
- EFM (Electronic Fetal Monitoring) - Required as applicable
- Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement - Required, updated annually
- Pass/Fail Testing (EKG/Medication) during orientation
Required Licenses & Verifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license for Texas
- State License Verification within 30 days of start
- NURSYS Verification within 30 days of start
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Social Security Card
- E-Verify or Attestation
- Background Check: 7-year check required within 30 days of start, including statewide, counties, federal, national, education verification, and international search if applicable
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Education Verification required
- Technical Certification Verification within 30 days of start
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical Exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
- Fit Mask Test within 6 months prior to start; annual updates required (accepted masks: 3M 1860 and 3M 1860S)
- Negative TB test or Chest X-Ray (QGold, TSpot, or 2 PPDs) within 1 year; for positive responders, negative chest X-ray within 5 years and annual TB questionnaire required
- TB Questionnaire annually required
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (positive titer or completed series; declination form accepted if applicable)
- Varicella (Chicken Pox)
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or facility-specific declination form required during flu season (Oct 31 - Mar 31)
- COVID initial vaccine series required (boosters not required)
- Drug Testing within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, barbiturates, benzodiazepines, cannabinoid, cocaine, opiates, phencyclidine, methadone, propoxyphene)
Additional Requirements
- 2 professional references within 3 years of start
- Resume or employment application copy required
- Skills checklist updated annually
- Clear, passport-style photo with solid background for badge
- Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start, including:
- Non-Employee Information Form
- Vaccine Exemption Form (if applicable)
- Applicant Health Record Form
- Code of Conduct and Compliance Form
- Compact/Temporary License Declaration of Residency Form
- Confidentiality Statement Form
- Information System Security Agreement Form
- Non-Employee Orientation Update Form
- Traveler Orientation
- Hepatitis B Declination (if no positive titer on file)
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas
- Minimum of 1 year of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience within the last year
- Current ACLS certification
- Current BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- NIHSS certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
