Cath Lab Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract
Location: Bridgeport, Connecticut
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Schedule: 4 days per week, 10-hour shifts (7:00 AM - 5:30 PM) with a 30-minute break
- Call Requirement: 6-9 days of call per month
- Call shifts include 36 hours total, with 4-9 hour days plus 24-hour on-call coverage
- Weekday call: 5:15 PM - 7:00 AM
- Weekend call: 24 hours each day
- Cath Lab operates 24/7 for cardiac emergencies
- Float to an additional campus as needed
- Facility type: Short term acute care hospital, Level II Trauma Center
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrubs provided
- Free parking available
Clinical Environment & Procedures
- Work in the Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory Suite with two cath labs
- Labs open Monday-Friday, 7 AM - 5:15 PM, with emergency availability 24/7
- Procedures include diagnostic and interventional cardiac and peripheral catheterizations, stent implants, IABP, Impella, EKOS, Rotablator, IVUS, FFR, Penumbra, Pericardiocentesis, Shockwave, IVC filters, TEEs, Cardioversions, TAVRs, and MitraClips (in conjunction with hybrid OR)
- Patient population: Adult cardiac patients with diagnoses such as Coronary Artery Disease, Myocardial Infarction, Unstable Angina, Aortic/Mitral Valve Disease, and Peripheral Vascular Disease
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Minimum of 1 year of Cardiac Cath Lab experience, with experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross (ARC)
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Training & Facility-Specific Requirements
- Mandatory training modules and attestations to be completed, including but not limited to:
- Language Services Training
- CAUTI Education Training (except PICU, NICU, Psychiatry/Behavioral Health)
- Suicide Risk and Environmental Assessment Training
- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Pyxis ES MedStation Training
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain campuses)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RNs except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026)
- EPIC Testing: Optional but highly encouraged for RNs with EPIC experience to fast track orientation
- Attestation of Prior Radiation Exposure: Required for Cath Lab and related units
