Registered Nurse (RN) – Stepdown (Nights)

Job Description

• Provide nursing care on a Stepdown unit specializing in cardiovascular patients, including those recovering from procedures such as PTCA, stents, TAVR, MitraClip, bi-ventricular pacemakers, and open heart surgery (18-24 hours post-op).
• Care for patients with congestive heart failure and electrophysiology studies.
• Participate in clinical trials managed by the research department.
• Work in a unit recognized for excellence in cardiac care and patient outcomes.
• May be required to float to similar units as needed.
• The Stepdown unit is a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit with a diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients.
• Emphasis on patient-centered, evidence-based, and holistic care within a collaborative interdisciplinary team.
• Orientation and ongoing support provided for new team members.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Michigan
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Minimum 1 year of Cardiac Stepdown nursing experience within the last year
• Proficiency in cardiac nursing care
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Prior travel nursing experience (must have completed at least one prior travel contract)
• Stepdown nursing experience

Important Policies

• Strict 3-strike attendance policy: termination after 3 absences or late arrivals (over 20 minutes) unless excused for communicable disease or hospitalization with documentation. Policy effective starting 6/1/2024.
• Full-time employees of the health system are not eligible for contract hire within six months of employment.
• Local traveler policy: candidates living within 35 miles of the facility are considered local travelers.
