Job Opportunity: Interventional Radiology Technologist

Location: Newark, New Jersey
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Summary

Provide specialized radiologic and interventional cardiology support in a high-acuity quaternary care teaching hospital setting. Perform minimally invasive, image-guided procedures across vascular, oncologic, cardiac, and transplant cases.


Required Qualifications

  • Valid Interventional Radiology Technologist license in New Jersey
  • Minimum 2 years of experience as an Interventional Radiology Technologist, including experience within the last year
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) - Radiography (R) certification
  • Experience working with Epic electronic health record system

Schedule & Work Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • On Call: Yes, every 3rd weekend
  • Holiday Work: Required to work 1 of 2 or 2 of 3 holidays as needed
  • Charting System: Epic
  • Floating: Must float within skillset without exception
  • Scrubs: Provided by hospital (green/teal)
  • Travelers: First-time travelers accepted; locals accepted at same rate

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Background Checks: Criminal background check within 30 days of start, including alias and multi-level searches
  • Drug Screen: Negative 10-panel urine drug screen within 30 days of start
  • Health Screenings:
    • Physical exam within 12 months clearing candidate for essential job functions and communicable disease free
    • TB testing (blood or skin) within 3 months of start; additional clearance if history of positive TB
    • Immunizations or immunity proof for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap
    • Annual influenza vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required
    • Respiratory medical clearance and on-site fit testing mandatory prior to start and annually thereafter
    • Color vision testing if job tasks require color discrimination
    • Latex allergy screening questionnaire if applicable
  • Competency Exams:
    • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam within 72 hours of signing, valid within 12 months
    • Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam as applicable
    • IV Therapy/Infusion exam required for all RNs (not applicable for OR specialties)
  • Pass/Fail Testing: Pharmacology and EKG exams required with remediation and failure policies in place
  • References: Two references within last 2 years, including at least one managerial reference
  • Work History: Employment application or resume with 7 years of work history; New Jersey candidates require verification of at least 1 year prior to start

Additional Requirements

  • Must complete annual education sign-offs and facility-specific orientation materials prior to start
  • Must comply with facility floating policy for all assignments
  • Must provide government-issued photo ID and driver’s license within 48 hours of signing contract
  • Must complete all required certifications and renewals as applicable during assignment
  • Must adhere to call-off policy: facility allows 1 call-off shift per 2 weeks

Notes

  • Prior travel experience is not required
  • Facility supports and prioritizes candidates who provide Return to Office (RTO) and schedule requests screenshots early
  • Candidates must be prepared to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment with high-acuity patients
  • This role involves working with Rapid Response and Code teams
