Description
Physical Therapist (Outpatient) - Travel/Contract
Location: Lexington, Virginia
Contract Length: Up to 26 weeks (approximately 6 months)
Shift: Day shift, Monday to Friday, 9:00 AM – 5:30 PM (5x8 hour shifts)
Weekend Coverage: One weekend shift per month (in acute care setting)
Work Setting: Primarily outpatient with some acute care responsibilities
Required Qualifications
- Valid Physical Therapist license in Virginia
- One completed travel assignment
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Advanced Radiologic Technology Registration (ARRT)
- Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) degree or a Master's degree
- Experience in an outpatient setting
- Experience in a clinic setting
- Experience in an acute care setting
Job Details
- Electronic Health Record: Epic experience preferred
- Call-Off Policy: Allowed to call off 1 shift per 2 weeks
- Holiday Work: May be required to work one holiday per 13-week contract (rotational basis with staff)
- Local Candidates: Not accepted (must meet radius rule criteria based on driver’s license/state ID address)
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Driver’s License/State ID: Must be provided within 48 hours of signing; address must be within 100 miles of the facility
- Background Checks:
- 7-year background check required within 1 year of start date
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
- Education Verification: Verification of highest earned degree required
- Physical Exam: Within 1 year of start, confirming freedom from communicable diseases
- Drug Testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start
- TB Testing: Negative PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 1 year; annual updates required
- Vaccinations/Immunizations: Proof of immunity or vaccination for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Fit Testing: Required within 1 year of start and updated annually (for respirator masks)
- References: Two clinical references required (hospital evaluations accepted)
- Employment Application: Complete application or resume required
- Skills Checklist: Must be updated annually
Additional Notes
- Candidates must review and acknowledge the facility’s orientation manual prior to start.
- Professional photo required for badge issuance (plain background, no selfies or filters).
- Candidates must complete all new hire paperwork and compliance checklists prior to start.
- Prior travel experience is mandatory; first-time travelers will not be accepted.
- Facility enforces a radius rule based on the address on the driver’s license/state ID; candidates outside the radius will be canceled.
This position offers a structured schedule with a mix of outpatient and acute care responsibilities, requiring a licensed physical therapist with solid clinical experience and prior travel contract experience.
