Registered Nurse - ER Travel/Contract
Location: North Adams, Massachusetts
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Specialty: Registered Nurse (ER)
- Shift: Day shifts, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each
- Shift options: 7:00 AM - 7:30 PM or 11:00 AM - 11:30 PM
- Weekly hours: 36
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Massachusetts
- Minimum 3 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) / Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications:
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) issued by American Heart Association or Red Cross
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- Emergency Contact Form prior to start
- CORI background check (Criminal Offender Record Information)
- Standard background checks including 7-year work/living history, sex offender registry, EPLS/GSA/SAM, HHS/OIG checks (updated annually)
- Massachusetts Nurse Aide Registry Search (state-specific requirement)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start date
- Fit testing for N95 mask (3M Model 1860) required for all units including OR
- Immunizations and titers:
- Tdap vaccine within last 10 years
- Negative TB test (QuantiFERON Gold or Tspot within 6 months) or 2-step PPD skin test
- Positive titers for Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, and Hepatitis B (declination allowed only with low titer and facility-specific form)
- 9-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant drug screens not accepted)
- Seasonal flu vaccination required during flu season (Oct-May); medical or religious exemptions must be approved by facility
- COVID-19 vaccination required annually with up-to-date booster; exemptions (medical or religious) require facility approval and submission of exemption form
Competency & Testing Requirements
- Pass/Fail testing on EKG and medication on first day of orientation (remediation possible if failed)
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam with minimum 80% score or Angoff score as applicable
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for Med/Surg/Telemetry units (relevant for ER)
- Color blindness testing (Ishihara test) required for certain units including ED
References
- Two professional references required (within 3 years of start)
Additional Notes
- Scrub color is flexible; scrubs provided for OR if applicable
- Facility requires annual skills checklist completion
- Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position
