Echo Tech Cardiac Sonographer Pediatrics (Travel/Contract)

Location: Bend, Oregon
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Details

  • Shift: Day shift, 4 days per week, 10 hours per day (7:00 AM – 5:30 PM)
  • Weekly Hours: 40
  • Daily Caseload: Approximately 10 patients
  • Patient Population: Neonate through geriatric in inpatient/outpatient echo lab
  • Equipment Used: Philips Epiq, Merge PACS
  • On-Call Requirement: Yes, 7:30 AM – 7:00 AM on rotating days and some weekends
  • Weekend Requirement: Rotating weekends every 4th weekend with some flexibility
  • Floating: No floating within or to sister facilities
  • Local Candidates: Not accepted (75-mile radius rule)
  • Pending State License: Accepted on a case-by-case basis
  • Return to Office (RTO) Restrictions: 7 total days allowed during the 13-week assignment

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Pediatric Echocardiography license in Oregon
  • Minimum 1 year of Pediatric Echocardiography experience within the last year
  • ARDMS (American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography) certification
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check (including SSN trace, FACIS L3, DOJ sex offender search, education verification) within 90 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 90 days of start
  • Diploma or transcript required and must be on file
  • Photo for badge: Passport-style with solid background, required within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start
  • Facility-specific agreements and confidentiality forms must be signed and on file within 48 hours of signing and no later than 2 Wednesdays prior to start

Health and Safety Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • TDAP vaccine within 10 years (or declination accepted)
    • Negative TB test (QGold within 1 year) or chest X-ray for positive responders
    • Annual TB questionnaire required
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster or declination accepted for low/equivocal titers)
    • Hepatitis B: Positive titer required (vaccine series alone not accepted)
    • Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines (booster or declination accepted for low/equivocal titers)
  • Negative 12-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (not required annually)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or agency declination/exemption required during flu season (deadline 12/01)
  • COVID vaccine preferred but not required; vaccination record or declination/exemption required
  • Respiratory safety clearance required annually and within 1 year of start

Competency and Skills Verification

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • Competency exam as applicable by specialty
  • Annual skills checklist required

This position offers a structured 4x10 hour day shift schedule with a focus on pediatric cardiac sonography in a high-volume echo lab environment. It requires specific certifications and EPIC experience, with rotating on-call and weekend responsibilities. The role does not allow floating and restricts local candidates within a 75-mile radius. Comprehensive background checks, health screenings, and compliance documentation are mandatory.
