- Contract Length: 13 weeks
- Patient Ratio: Average 1:2 (days and nights)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend

- Floating: Floating within scope to meet facility needs is required

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of Neuro ICU experience, including experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications required:
- NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
Licensing
- Current Registered Nurse license valid in Connecticut or Compact RN license
- Primary source license verification required within 30 days of start

- Mobile Heartbeat Alarm Module (except ER/ED, Pediatrics, ICU, NICU)
- Stroke Education (except Pediatric specialties and NICU)
- CLABSI Prevention for Adult and Pediatric Training
- Preventing Pressure Injury Training
- Patient Transportation with Oxygen Education
- Pyxis ES MedStation Training
- Baxter Pump Interoperability Training
- Patient Bedside Rounding (except OR, Behavioral Health, Ambulatory, ER/ED)
- Ventricular Assist Device Awareness (except certain hospitals)
- AME Blood Administration Module (except Case Managers, Behavioral Health/Psych, Home Health)
- New Employee Orientation Module
- 21st Century Cures Act Module (required for RNs except Home Health)
- ED Handbook (for ED/ER RNs only)
- eCart Training Module (not required for Pediatric, Periop/OR, Outpatient, Case Managers, Home Health)
- Chaperone Policy Training
- Fire Safety Module (effective 5/4/2026 and forward)
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (3M N95 preferred)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation (with annual TB questionnaire)
- Immunizations/vaccinations:
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (highly preferred for Pediatric specialties, Labor & Delivery, Postpartum)
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 MMR vaccines; boosters may be required)
- Hepatitis B (positive titer, vaccine series, or declination within 1 year)
- Varicella (positive titer, 2 vaccines, or documented history; boosters may be required)
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/1 - 3/31)
- COVID vaccination preferred (initial series)
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months of start (rapid accepted)
Background and Verification
- 7-year criminal background check required within 12 months of start, including:
- SSN trace
- Counties lived/worked
- Statewide and national checks (sex offender, criminal, federal)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Education verification required; foreign equivalency reports accepted from approved agencies for internationally educated candidates
- Transcript or diploma may be required if education verification cannot be completed
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps greater than 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- Skills checklist required within 12 months of start
- One supervisor reference within past year required for ICU candidates (charge nurse references not accepted)
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure required for certain tech roles (not applicable here)
Competency Exams
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required within 12 months (minimum 85% passing score)
- Color Blind Testing required for all candidates (effective 8/2/2024, minimum 80% passing score)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam required for ICU and telemetry units (not required for NICU, Psych, Pediatric, Ambulatory)
