Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Philadelphia, Pennsylvania

Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Details

• Shift: Combination of (2) 12-hour shifts (10:45 AM - 11:15 PM) and (2) 8-hour shifts (2:45 PM - 11:15 PM) on a 6-week rotating schedule
• Required to work (2) weekend night shifts (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing) every 6 weeks
• Holiday call requirements: (1) summer and (1) winter holiday shift (8 or 12 hours depending on staffing) every 6 weeks
• Floating assignments may include GI unit or Surgery Center
• Charting system used: Cerner

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Pennsylvania
• Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN)
• Minimum 3 years of experience as a Registered Nurse, including 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience
• Operating Room experience within the last year
• 2-3 years of Level I Trauma experience, including working with Level 1 Trauma patients
• Experience with Liver and Kidney transplant care
• One completed travel assignment
• BLS certification issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross

Certifications

• ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
• PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
• TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
• Pass/Fail Basic Dysrhythmia Exam during orientation (one attempt only)
• Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable
• Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement (annual)
• Acknowledgement of Pass/Fail Testing for Dysrhythmia Exam

Health and Compliance Requirements

• Physical exam within 2 months of start date
• Fit mask test (3M 1870+ model) within 12 months prior to start (no on-site testing)
• Current Tdap vaccine or titer
• Negative TB test (Qgold or TSPOT within 90 days) or chest X-ray if positive test
• Annual TB questionnaire
• Immunizations or positive titers for Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Hepatitis B, and Varicella
• 10-panel drug screen within 60 days prior to start
• Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season
• COVID-19 vaccine no longer required prior to start; exemptions require mask use at work

Background and Verification

• 7-year criminal background check including PA PATCH search (required for PA facilities)
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks upon hire
• Education verification (official transcript acceptable)
• Pennsylvania Child Abuse Search within 12 months prior to start
• Pennsylvania Department of Human Services fingerprinting results within 12 months prior to start
• NURSYS license verification
• Work history verification and 2 professional references within 2 years of start

Additional Information

• Facility-specific education modules (~6 hours) assigned and must be completed prior to orientation (not required for this specific facility)
• Photo required for badge issuance prior to start
• Must complete all required documentation and verifications before start date

This position is ideal for experienced Operating Room Registered Nurses with trauma experience who have completed prior travel contracts and hold a BSN. The role involves varied shifts, floating responsibilities, and requires multiple certifications and compliance with state-specific background checks and health requirements.
