Registered Nurse – Telemetry (Night Shift)

Location: Alton, Illinois
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 12 weeks

Unit & Shift Details

• Unit: Intermediate Care Unit (Telemetry)
• Shift: Nights, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
• Ratios: 1 nurse to 5-6 patients
• Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
• On-call: Required
• Floating: May float within scope to meet facility needs
• Block scheduling: Not accommodated
• Locals accepted if within 75-mile radius (local rate applies)
• Return to Office (RTO) restrictions: No more than 7 days

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Illinois
• Telemetry experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
• ACLS certification
• BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
• NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Compliance & Background Requirements

• Government-issued ID required (e.g., driver’s license or state ID)
• Criminal background check within 6 months, including:

  • Statewide searches
  • Nationwide and international searches if applicable
  • Education verification of highest nursing degree
• Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks
• Illinois fingerprinting required for assignments at or floating to long-term care or rehab units
• State-specific exclusion and sanction list checks for Illinois
• Drug testing within 1 year of start, covering a comprehensive panel including amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, oxycodone, PCP, etc. Must be current throughout assignment
• Physical exam within 1 year of start
• Fit mask testing (N95 respirators) required and must be renewed annually
• Immunizations and health documentation:

  • Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
  • Negative TB test or chest x-ray within required timeframes
  • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 – Apr 1)
• Required facility-specific documents: HIPAA acknowledgement, latex allergy questionnaire, confidentiality form, regulatory compliance education, TB questionnaire, hand hygiene policy, fingernail policy, dress code policy, and orientation modules

Work Hours & Scheduling

• Guaranteed hours:

  • 36 hours per week for 3 shifts of 12 hours
  • 48 hours per week if working 4 shifts of 12 hours (if applicable)

Additional Information

• Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
• Employment application and unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start
• Candidates must have a recent badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
• Candidates must adhere to all facility policies including dress code and hand hygiene
• Floating within scope of practice may be required to meet facility needs
