Description
Registered Nurse – Intensive Care Unit Neonatal Level II
Location: Meridian, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights (7p-7a)
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 36 hours per week
Weekend/Holiday Requirement: Based on unit needs
Floating: Required to float to like NICU units within the valley (Nampa and Boise) for similar assignments; no vented patients expected in Meridian unit
Unit Details
- Level II NICU (Level 2B) caring for neonates ≥32 weeks gestation
- 13 beds with nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:2-3
- Common patient diagnoses: premature ≥32 weeks, late preterm, sepsis, hypoglycemia, oxygen support (NC, Hi Flow NC, CPAP), NOWS/NAS, feeding difficulties
- Ventilated babies stabilized and transferred to higher-level care in Boise
- Neonatal NP available 24/7; no tele/monitor techs on unit
- Charge RN on each shift, usually with assignment and coverage of high-risk deliveries
- CNA support available 4-5 days/nights per week covering L&D/PP/NICU floors
- CPAP routinely used; vents available for emergencies
Required Certifications & Skills
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program)
- STABLE certification
- Cardiac STABLE certification
- Delivery room high-risk resuscitation experience required
- IV start and lab draw experience required
- Ability to initiate and manage short-term titratable drips (e.g., Dopamine, Epinephrine) prior to transport
Orientation & Dress Code
- Customized unit/department orientation, typically 2-3 shifts
- Blue scrubs provided on unit
Additional Information
- Staff cannot work more than five shifts in a row per hospital policy
- No call or standby requirement
- Radius rule: Candidates must live outside a 50-mile radius from the facility to be considered

- Current RN license valid in Idaho
