Description

ICU Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Odessa, Texas
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 18:30 - 7:00)
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
  • Must be able to float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units if ICU census is low (patient ratios 5-6:1)
  • Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, TNCC or TCAR, NIH Stroke Certification, EKG course completion, and 6 hours total of Stroke education (Stroke education can be provided if needed)

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in Texas
  • Minimum 1 year of recent ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience
  • ACLS certification
  • BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
  • PALS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
  • NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)

Experience

  • Specialty: Registered Nurse in ICU
  • Minimum years of experience: Not explicitly stated; assume standard ICU RN experience expected
  • Prior travel experience: Not required

Compliance & Documentation Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
  • Background check: 7-year history within 30 days of start, updated annually
  • E-Verify or attestation
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
  • State nursing license verification and NURSYS verification within 30 days of start
  • Employment application/resume
  • Two professional references within 3 years
  • Skills checklist updated annually
  • Facility-specific documents including standards of conduct, dress code, notice of employment, standards of behavior, agency checklist, HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz, orientation and safety training modules, and COVID declination if applicable
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing)
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or approved masks only; PAPR not accepted)
  • Immunizations and titers (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing):
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year; chest X-ray within 2 years if positive)
    • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer)
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination)
    • Varicella (positive titer or 2 vaccines; booster if low/equivocal titer)
  • Drug testing: Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start; plan for completion within 72 hours of signing contract
  • Flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (Oct-April); mask required if declination submitted
  • COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required (annual boosters not required)

Additional Notes

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam required onsite at orientation with up to 3 attempts
  • Pass/fail testing for EKG and medication knowledge required for RNs
  • Orientation safety manual acknowledgement required annually
  • Must complete facility-specific orientation and compliance forms prior to start

This position offers a travel/contract opportunity for experienced ICU Registered Nurses comfortable with night shifts and flexible floating to other units as needed.
