Job Opportunity: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Onancock, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM)
Hours per Week: 36

Job Description

• Position: Emergency Room Registered Nurse (ER RN)
• Experience: Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Electronic Health Record: Experience with Epic system required
• Licensure: Must hold a valid Virginia RN license or a compact license at time of application submission
• Locals allowed at same rate

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license in Virginia
• Minimum 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Current ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification
• Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Background and Compliance Requirements

• 7-year criminal background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years, updated annually
• Virginia State Police National Criminal Background Check fingerprint results required
• Government-issued photo ID and valid driver’s license required
• Drug testing panel includes Barbiturates, Benzodiazepine, Buprenorphine, Cocaine, Methadone, Marijuana/Cannabinoid, Methamphetamine, and Opiates
• Facility-specific documents to be reviewed and signed prior to start: confidentiality agreement, scrub colors, safety brochure, dress code policy, drug-free policy, hand washing hygiene policy
• Photo for facility badge must meet specific requirements (recent, professional, neutral background, no hats/headphones, etc.)

• Annual update of skills checklist
• Core compliance testing or signed HIPAA form for subcontractors
• Fingerprinting requirements updated as of 7/15/2025 (Virginia VSP National Criminal Background Check fingerprint results to be used)

• Prior travel experience is not explicitly required for this position

• Candidates must complete all required forms and screenings prior to start date
• Flu vaccination deadlines are strict; exemptions require approval
• Facility may administer computer-based learning (CBL) tests during orientation with multiple attempts allowed
