Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Newark, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Shift: Nights, 4 shifts of 12 hours each (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Contract Length: 8 weeks (with possible extension)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
Floating: Required
Patient Ratio: 2-3 patients per nurse
Experience Required: Minimum 2 years ICU nursing experience
Prior Travel Experience: Not required; first-time travelers accepted
Local Candidates: Must reside within 75 miles of the facility
Required Licenses and Certifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) – AHA provider/instructor/RQI accepted
- BLS (Basic Life Support) issued by American Heart Association
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
Required Documentation and Compliance
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year (minimum 2 years total ICU experience)
Health and Safety Requirements (Must be completed within 5 days of contract signing)
- Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit mask test (N95 or equivalent, updated annually)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year) or TB questionnaire in lieu of annual renewal
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Measles (Rubeola)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination (required during flu season)
- Snellen eye exam (within 1 year)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
Additional Notes
- Floating between units is required
- Candidate must be prepared to work every other weekend
- Clear, passport-style photo with solid background required for badge
- Orientation safety manual acknowledgment required
- Medication/pharmacology competency exam as required by profession
- Color blindness testing required once (not annually)
This position is ideal for ICU RNs with at least 2 years of experience seeking a night shift travel assignment in New York with a defined 8-week contract and potential extension. First-time travel nurses are welcome.
