Registered Nurse (RN) - Med Surg (Nights)

Location: Cedar Rapids, Iowa
Employment Type: Temporary
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Unit & Work Environment

• Unit: Stroke unit, floating between Medical Surgical and Stepdown units
• Bed size: 24
• Patient Ratios:

  • Days/Evenings: 1:5
  • Nights: 1:6
• Dress Code: Navy or black solid tops and bottoms
• EMR System: EPIC
• Orientation Dates: July 20, July 27
• Holiday Work Requirement: Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Iowa
• Minimum 1 year of Medical Surgical nursing experience, with experience within the last year
• Experience caring for neurology patients
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• Experience with Epic electronic medical record system

Preferred Certifications

• NIH Stroke Scale certificate (preferred; can be obtained during onboarding)

Work Conditions & Additional Information

• New graduate travelers are welcomed
• Float between Med Surg and Stepdown units
• Night shift
• Night shift patient ratio: 1 nurse to 6 patients
• Orientation: 16 hours
• Overtime and holiday pay multipliers apply (details not included)
• Call back and on-call pay available (details not included)
