Registered Nurse – Emergency Center
Location: Albany, Georgia
Contract Length: 17 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts, approximately 48 hours per week
Job Overview
Seeking experienced Emergency Room Registered Nurses with larger hospital experience for a 17-week travel contract. The role involves working in a high-volume ER with approximately 180-200 patient visits per day, including pediatric to geriatric patients and trauma cases.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Georgia
- Minimum 5 years of Emergency Department (ED) nursing experience, including experience within the last year
- Completion of at least 1 travel assignment
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Certifications:
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course)
- CPI (Crisis Prevention Intervention)
- ASLS (Advanced Stroke Life Support) or NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale)
- Experience with MEDITECH EMR
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience in larger hospital settings
Work Environment & Responsibilities
- Nurse-to-patient ratio approximately 1:4
- Charge nurse responsibilities expected
- Work alongside nurse aides, paramedics, respiratory therapists, and security/patient sitters
- Manage patients on vents held in ER until admission; 24/7 respiratory therapist support available
- Nurses perform lab draws and start IVs; no separate IV team
- Floor-specific orientation: 2 shifts required
- Caribbean Blue scrubs required
- Weekend and holiday schedule: every other weekend and every other holiday worked
- Auto lunch deductions for 7p-7a shifts
- Callout process and completion of orientation requirements (ORT) during week one are strictly enforced
Patient Population & Clinical Focus
- Treats a broad range of patients from pediatrics to geriatrics
- Trauma center with some trauma cases retained and some transferred
- Neuro trauma cases partially transferred; facility is a CVA (stroke) center
- Orthopedic cases partially retained and partially transferred
- No burn patients treated onsite
- Behavioral health area with a 6-bed locked psych unit staffed by psychiatric personnel
Additional Notes
- Central monitoring techs and 24/7 pharmacy support available on campus
- Multiple ER physician and mid-level provider shifts covering 24/7 care
- Nurses expected to manage lab draws and IV starts independently
This position is ideal for experienced ER nurses who have prior travel experience, are proficient with Meditech EMR, and hold all required certifications including TNCC. The role demands flexibility for night shifts, weekend and holiday coverage, and adherence to strict orientation and callout policies.
