Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse

Location: Odessa, Texas
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Work in the Main Operating Room with diverse surgical specialties including robotic XI, orthopedic, spine/neuro, general/gyn, ENT, ophthalmology, pain management, urology, vascular, and Trauma Level 2 cases.
  • Schedule: Monday to Thursday, 4 shifts per week, 10 hours per shift (6:30 AM to 5:00 PM).
  • On-call requirement: 1 weekday and 1 weekend per month.
  • Start date expected within 3-5 weeks.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Texas.
  • Minimum of 1 year of Operating Room (OR) experience, with OR experience within the last year required.
  • Prior travel nursing experience required.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN) required.
  • Current ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association.
  • Trauma nursing experience required.

Compliance and Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • E-Verify or attestation.
  • 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry within 30 days of start; updated annually.
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start.

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of contract signing).
  • Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or approved masks only; no PAPR accepted).
  • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year (chest X-ray required for positive responders). Annual TB questionnaire required.
  • Immunizations or positive titers required for:
    • Rubeola (Measles)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Hepatitis B (positive titer, series, or declination accepted)
    • Varicella
    • Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (within 10 years)
  • Seasonal flu vaccine or declination required during flu season (October-April). Masking required if declined.
  • COVID initial series or facility-specific declination required (annual boosters not required).
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (instant acceptable).

Documentation and Facility-Specific Requirements

  • Employment application or resume.
  • Two professional references within 3 years.
  • Annual skills checklist.
  • Facility-specific documents including:
    • Notice of Employment
    • Standards of Conduct and Behavior
    • Dress Code Policy Acknowledgement
    • Agency Checklist
    • COVID declination if applicable
    • HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (complete within 72 hours of signing)
    • Orientation and Safety Training Modules (complete within 72 hours of signing)
    • Annual TB questionnaire
  • Completion of various facility-required forms prior to start (e.g., health record, code of conduct, confidentiality, security agreements, orientation).
