Job Opportunity: Respiratory Therapist (RRT) - Travel/Contract
Location
- Bridgeport, Connecticut

- 26 weeks (will accept 13 weeks)
Shift Details
- Night shift: Four 12-hour shifts every other week (7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
- Work every other weekend and holidays as needed
- Floating between hospital campuses and units including NICU and Pediatric units based on census and staffing needs

Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid Registered Respiratory Therapist license in Connecticut
- Minimum 2 years of experience as a Respiratory Therapist
- Respiratory Therapist experience within the last year
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Experience working with Level 2 Trauma patients
- Prior travel experience as a Respiratory Therapist
Preferred Experience
- NICU experience preferred but not required
- Experience with neonatal oscillating vents and high frequency jet vents is beneficial
Licenses and Certifications (Must Have)
- Current state Respiratory Therapist license (CRT or RRT)
- BLS (Basic Life Support)
- CRT or RRT credential
Additional Certifications (Recommended/Required as applicable)
- ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support)
- PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support)
- NRP (Neonatal Resuscitation Program) – required for NICU
- TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core Course) – relevant for trauma units
Responsibilities
- May be asked to orientate students or new hires
- Expected to float and support multiple units including NICU and Pediatrics as needed

- Experience with neonatal oscillating vents and high frequency jet vents
- Experience with Draeger ventilators and recency of use
- Confirmation that all requested time off (RTO) is final and accurate
Compliance and Documentation Requirements
- Valid photo ID matching legal name for identity verification on first day
- 7-year criminal background check within 12 months, updated annually
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- Foreign equivalency education evaluation and diploma/transcript if internationally educated
- Verification of highest level of education
- Employment application with 7-year work history and no gaps over 90 days
- Work history verification for last 7 years (attestations not accepted)
- Attestation of prior radiation exposure if applicable
Health and Safety Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months, updated annually (clean shaven required)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray documentation
- Annual TB questionnaire
- Required immunizations or proof of immunity: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B (or declination)
- 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
- COVID vaccination series preferred
Competency Exams and Training
- Medication/Pharmacology competency exam (85% passing score required; NICU portion for NICU staff)
- Color blind testing (80% passing score required)
- Dysrhythmia/EKG competency exam (not required for NICU)
- Various facility-specific training modules and attestations (e.g., Language Services, CAUTI Education, Suicide Risk Assessment, Mobile Heartbeat Alarm, Stroke Education, CLABSI Prevention, Pressure Injury Prevention, Patient Transportation with Oxygen, Pyxis MedStation, Baxter Pump Interoperability, Patient Bedside Rounding, Ventricular Assist Device Awareness, Blood Administration, New Employee Orientation, 21st Century Cures Act, ED Handbook, eCart Training, Chaperone Policy Training, Fire Safety)
