Registered Nurse (RN) Float - Nights
Location: Coeur d'Alene, Idaho
Employment Type: Long-Term Assignment (13 weeks)
Shift: 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM
Patient Population: Adult
Unit Type: Medical/Surgical (200 beds), Critical Care Unit (26 beds), Behavioral Health, PCU, Emergency Department (ED)
Facility Level: Level III Trauma Center
Job Description
- Work as part of a Nursing Resource Team providing float coverage primarily on adult inpatient Behavioral Health, PCU, and Med/Surg units.
- May float mid-shift and to the ED to care for boarded Med/Surg patients.
- No float assignments to ICU or Women’s & Children’s units.
- Must be flexible and comfortable with floating; staffing assignments communicated approximately 90 minutes before shift start.
- Utilize EPIC electronic health record system.
Required Experience
- Minimum 2 years as a travel nurse.
- Recent experience in ICU, Med/Surg, and PCU.
- Cardiac ICU experience is mandatory.
- Experience with cardiac drips and non-invasive ventilation.
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license valid in Idaho or accepted under applicable state emergency licensure provisions.
- AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
- AHA Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification.
- Mandatory behavioral health certifications/classes provided onsite.
- Preferred: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
- Must have completed Mental Health Behavioral certifications or be willing to complete them onsite.
Onboarding and Compliance Requirements
- COVID-19 vaccination required.
- Proof of immunizations or declinations for MMR, Hepatitis B, Influenza (seasonal), Varicella.
- TB test (one-step skin test, T-Spot, or Quantiferon) within 12 months.
- Annual TB questionnaire within past 12 months.
- Physical/health statement within 12 months of assignment start.
- Drug screen (rapid 10-panel) within 14 days of start.
- Background checks including 7-year county criminal search, SSN trace, national database, sex offender registry, OIG, and GSA checks within 30 days of start.
- Verification of education (diploma/degree/transcript).
- Professional references (2 required).
- Completion of facility-specific core competencies, skills checklist, and unit exam.
- Fingerprinting appointment scheduled prior to Day 1.
- Valid driver’s license or state ID.
Additional Information
- Orientation sessions held weekly.
- Must be comfortable with floating to multiple units including Behavioral Health and ED.
- Staffing office communicates float assignments shortly before shift start.
This position is ideal for experienced travel RNs with strong critical care and cardiac ICU backgrounds who are adaptable and comfortable working across multiple adult inpatient units including behavioral health.
