Registered Nurse – Med/Surg Telemetry
Location: Cleveland, Ohio
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Description
- Provide nursing care on Med/Surg Telemetry unit with potential to float to related units including Emergency Department.
- Rotating shifts: 7pm–7:30am (night) and 7am–7:30pm (day); shifts may vary to meet operational needs.
- Must work at least every other holiday.
- Orientation includes ECG rhythm recognition and medication safety testing; passing scores required.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Ohio.
- Minimum 1.5 years of Med Surg / Telemetry experience, with experience within the last year.
- Current certifications:
- BLS issued by American Heart Association or American Red Cross
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing.
Required Documentation & Compliance
- Government-issued photo ID (e.g., driver’s license) required and must be carried on assignment.
- Background checks including 7-year criminal history, education verification, and monthly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
- FBI and BCI fingerprinting within 12 months of start, updated annually; must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing.
- Physical exam within 1 year confirming ability to perform essential job functions; latex allergy notification if applicable.
- Fit mask test (N95) within 12 months, updated annually; religious/medical exemptions require approval.
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap every 10 years (no declinations accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray with annual questionnaire if history positive
- MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccinations or positive titers with boosters if needed
- Hepatitis B titer, series, or declination
- Varicella vaccinations or positive titer with booster if needed
- Seasonal flu vaccination required annually (no declinations accepted; exemptions require approval)
- Drug screening: Standard 10-panel within 12 months, updated annually; instant drug screens not accepted.
- Snellen eye exam within 1 year; not required annually if continuously employed without break.
Orientation & Training
- Completion of facility-specific online training modules prior to start; must be done on a computer using Google Chrome.
- Modules include mandatory training videos and tests; skipping videos will lock out access.
- SafeMedicate and ECG medication administration prep materials provided for orientation testing.
- Baseline competency exams (medication and ECG) required for all bedside RNs except OR; passing scores mandatory.
- Return candidates with less than 6 months gap may be exempt from some orientation testing and modules.
References & Work History
- Two professional references required from employment within the past year (manager, supervisor, charge nurse, or director).
- Employment application must include at least 3 years prior work history with 2 years in acute care and similar clinical area.
Work Hours
- 12-hour shifts, typically 36 hours per week.
- Night and day shifts rotate as needed.
Additional Notes
- Candidates must be prepared for potential shift rotation to meet hospital needs.
- Fingerprinting results must be on file prior to contract extension.
- Candidates with name changes must have consistent legal names across all documents.
- Candidates must comply with all health and safety requirements to maintain assignment eligibility.
