Description
Registered Nurse – Medical Surgical (Travel/Contract)
Location: Creve Coeur, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM)
Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
Unit & Patient Population
- Medical-Surgical unit with an average daily census of 14 patients
- Unit size: 26 rooms, 41 beds
- Patient focus includes short stay orthopedic (majority joint replacement surgeries), urology, and plastics surgery patients
- Floating within scope to the med-surg unit as needed
Required Experience & Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license in Missouri
- Minimum 1 year of Medical-Surgical nursing experience within the last year
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Licensure & Certifications
- Valid Registered Nurse license for Missouri (temporary licenses accepted with approval)
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA only)
- Other certifications may be required based on unit specifics (refer to unit/job description for ACLS, PALS, NRP, TNCC, CPI, MAB, NIH Stroke, EFM, etc.)
- IV Certification not required for RNs but required for LPNs/LVNs if applicable
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued ID required
- Criminal background check within 6 months, including statewide and nationwide searches
- Quarterly EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required
- Education verification of highest nursing degree required before start
- Drug testing within 1 year, including a comprehensive panel (amphetamines, benzodiazepines, cocaine, opiates, etc.)
- Physical exam within 1 year of start
- Fit mask testing required and must be renewed annually (N95 respirators accepted)
- Immunizations and health screenings required:
- Tdap vaccine or declination (expires every 10 years)
- Two negative TB tests or equivalent (T-Spot or Q-Gold) within 1 year
- Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella immunity or vaccination/declination as applicable
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved exemption required during flu season (Sept 30 – Apr 1)
- Various facility-specific documents and acknowledgements required prior to start (HIPAA, confidentiality, latex allergy questionnaire, hand hygiene, dress code, fingernail policy, regulatory compliance education, orientation modules)
Additional Requirements
- Must comply with local radius rule: cannot live within 75 miles of the facility (locals not accepted)
- Return-to-Office (RTO) restrictions: 7 days
- Two professional references required (supervisors preferred)
- Unit-specific skills checklist required within 1 year of start (Oncology skills checklist required if assigned to Med Surg-Oncology unit)
- Employment application must be completed and uploaded
- Candidate must have a recent badge photo (head and shoulders, white background, no obstructions, taken within 6 months)
Facility & Work Environment
- Short Term Acute Care facility with 68 staffed beds
- Charting system: EPIC
- Scrub color: Navy (top, jacket, and bottom)
- Free employee parking available in designated areas
Notes
- Floating to med-surg unit may be required within scope of practice
- Orthopedic population primarily joint replacement surgery patients
- Candidates must be prepared for on-call duties and weekend rotations every other weekend
