Registered Nurse – Emergency Room (ER)
Location: Bloomington, Indiana
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Job Details
- Shift Options:
- 3 shifts of 12 hours (36 hours/week)
- 4 shifts of 12 hours (48 hours/week) – Night shift (7:00 PM to 7:30 AM)
- Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend
- Floating: May float to nearby sister facilities as needed (rarely)
- Holiday Requirement: Must work 2 out of 3 major holidays
- Locals not accepted
Required Qualifications
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Indiana
- Minimum of 2 years of Emergency Department (ED) experience, with at least some experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
- Certifications (AHA issued where noted):
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
- Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by American Heart Association
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) issued by American Heart Association
- Trauma Nursing Core Course (TNCC)
- NIH Stroke Scale Certification (NIHSS)
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam completed within 12 months of start date
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months (including amphetamines, marijuana, cocaine, opiates, PCP)
- Fit mask test within 12 months with approved respirators (3M N95 models or Honeywell N95)
- Immunizations and Titers:
- Tuberculosis test (PPD, QuantiFERON-TB Gold, or T-SPOT) within 1 year
- Measles (Rubeola), Mumps, Rubella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations accepted
- Varicella: Positive titer or 2 vaccines required; no declinations or history accepted
- Hepatitis B series, titer, or signed declination required
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap preferred but not required
- Seasonal Flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required during flu season (9/30–3/31)
- Annual TB questionnaire required
- Color Blindness exam (Ishihara or equivalent) with 100% minimum score
Background and Documentation
- Background check required within 90 days of start, including:
- 7 years of SSN trace, county, state, national sex offender, FACIS Level III
- Education verification (highest applicable degree)
- International search if lived/worked outside the US in past 7 years
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Employment application covering 7 years with explanations for gaps over 30 days
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years; references must be from charge, manager, supervisor, or above
- Skills checklist required within 12 months and annually

- Guaranteed hours vary by shift pattern:
- 8 and 10 hour shifts: 40 hours/week
