Job Opportunity: Ultrasound Tech Maternal Fetal

Location: Greensboro, North Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description & Work Schedule

  • Work schedule: 4 days per week, 9-hour shifts (7:15 AM – 4:45 PM)
  • Rotating shifts Monday through Friday, with potential occasional float assignments:
    • Monday & Wednesday float to alternate location (7:30 AM – 5:00 PM)
    • Rare weekend float (7 AM – 7 PM or 7 PM – 7 AM) at a 24/7 unit
  • No on-call required
  • Float assignments as needed

Required Experience & Skills

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in specialty required
  • First-time travelers are welcome
  • Experience with perinatal ultrasound for high-risk patients including anatomy, Dopplers, transvaginal scans
  • Outpatient experience required; teaching hospital experience preferred
  • Proficient with EPIC system and AS OB Reporting
  • Experience with Samsung Hera W10 and Samsung RS 85 Prestige ultrasound equipment
  • Skilled in OB/GYN, high-risk obstetrics, M-mode, amniocentesis, chronic villi sampling
  • Familiarity with PACS system

Required Certifications & Licenses

  • Valid state license as an Ultrasound Technologist (Maternal-Fetal specialty)
  • RDMS-OB certification with Maternal-Fetal Medicine (MFM) experience required
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required
  • Pass/Fail EKG competency exam required for all RNs (including this role)
  • EPIC test completion with passing score required
  • Orientation Safety Manual Acknowledgement required

Compliance & Background Requirements

  • Government-issued photo ID and Social Security Card required for badge issuance
  • Background check within 60 days of start date covering all locations lived/worked/schooled in past 7 years
  • Education verification required, including foreign equivalency evaluation if education was obtained outside the U.S.
  • Employment verification for last 5 years required
  • Two supervisory references required from clinical assignments within the last 24 months (one within 12 months)
  • Annual skills checklist with a one-week grace period for renewal
  • Drug screening: Negative 10-panel drug test within 40 days of start
  • Immunizations and health documents required:
    • Adult Tdap vaccine proof
    • Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 6 months
    • MMR (Measles, Mumps, Rubella) vaccination or positive titer
    • Varicella vaccination or positive titer
    • Hepatitis B titer or declination
    • Seasonal flu vaccine or approved medical/religious exemption during flu season
  • Fit mask test completed within current calendar year and updated annually (N95 approved types)

Additional Requirements

  • Candidate must be flexible with scheduling and aware of zero-tolerance policy for tardiness and unexcused absences
  • Must complete all compliance documentation by deadline (12 Noon EST the Wednesday prior to start date)
  • Badge photo must meet strict facility requirements (no selfies, solid color background, business casual or uniform attire, forward-facing)
  • Must review and sign facility floating policy and contractor equipment acknowledgement form
  • Workday login and onboarding tasks must be completed prior to start, including MFA setup

Equipment & Technology

  • Use of Samsung Hera W10 and Samsung RS 85 Prestige ultrasound machines
  • EPIC electronic health record system proficiency required
  • Experience with PACS imaging system

Prior Travel Experience

  • Prior travel experience is not required for this position

Summary

This is a 13-week travel contract for an experienced Maternal-Fetal Ultrasound Technologist with a minimum of 2 years of specialty experience. The role requires strong technical skills in high-risk obstetrics ultrasound, proficiency with EPIC and specific ultrasound equipment, and compliance with strict background, health, and certification requirements. The position offers a consistent day shift schedule with some floating responsibilities and no on-call duties. First-time travel candidates are welcome.


Required Experience & Qualifications

  • Valid Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography license in North Carolina
  • Maternal Fetal Medicine Sonography experience of at least 2 years, including experience within the last year
  • Experience working with Maternal-Fetal patients
  • Experience in an outpatient setting
  • Proficiency with Epic electronic health record system
  • BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
