Description
Registered Nurse (RN) - Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF)
Location: Wheeling, West Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Nights
Hours: 12-hour shifts (approximately 36 hours per week)
Weekend Requirement: Every other weekend required
Call/Standby: None required
Floating: Travelers will float before core staff as needed
Facility & Unit Details
- Skilled Nursing Facility / Long Term Care floor with a mix of long-term and short-term residents
- 60 total residents on the floor (30 residents per unit)
- Private rooms
- Electronic Medical Record system: Point Click Care
- Nurse-to-patient ratios:
- RN/LPN: 1:15
- CNA: 1:10
- No telemetry monitors on the unit
- Always an RN present in the facility
- No separate COVID unit; enhanced droplet precautions in place for COVID patients
- N95 masks used for respiratory protection
- COVID vaccine not required
Patient Population & Common Diagnoses
- Patients unable to care for themselves
- Conditions include: Sepsis, Femur fractures, NSTEMI, Chronic Kidney Failure (CKF), Congestive Heart Failure (CHF), Urinary Tract Infections (UTI)
- Mix of long-term residents and those recovering to return home
Job Duties & Responsibilities
- Manage IVs, PICC lines, mediports, and central lines
- Administer IV antibiotics, blood products, and IV fluids
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including PT, OT, Speech Therapy, Social Services, Case Managers, Dieticians, and Pharmacists
- Participate in facility operations with always a charge nurse on duty
Required Certifications & Licenses
- Current Registered Nurse (RN) license for West Virginia
- BLS (Basic Life Support) Certification
- CPR certification must be obtained prior to first day
Orientation & Scheduling
- Orientation: 2 shifts
- No self-scheduling or guaranteed block scheduling
- Shift times approximately 6:45 PM to 7:15 AM
Additional Information
- Physicians available 24/7 by phone
- Pharmacist on site; medications supplied from nearby hospital
- Dress code: Navy blue scrubs for RNs
- Prior travel experience is not specified as required
