Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Warrensburg, Missouri
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 3x12 hour night shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Schedule: Every other weekend; block schedule may be limited
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in Labor & Delivery, Postpartum, and Nursery units
  • Ability to work as C-section circulator and in recovery
  • Charge nurse and/or nursery experience highly preferred
  • NICU experience is a bonus
  • Floating between units required
  • Experience with Cerner electronic health record system preferred
  • Holiday work required
  • Local candidates and first-time travelers are welcome

Required Certifications

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) – AHA only
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) – AHA only
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) – Required for OB
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) – Required for OB

Required Qualifications

  • Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in Missouri
  • Minimum of 1 year of Labor and Delivery experience within the last year
  • Associate of Science in Nursing or Associate Degree in Nursing
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) issued by the American Heart Association
  • Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification
  • National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification
  • Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) certification

Background and Compliance Requirements

  • 7-year criminal background check within 60 days of start, updated annually
  • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for contract renewals
  • Missouri EDL Search Results required before start and for each contract renewal
  • Drug screen within 30 days of start (9-panel instant accepted)
  • Proof of E-Verify or attestation

Health and Immunization Requirements

  • Initial physical exam and annual updates attesting to ability to meet physical demands
  • Negative TB test (PPD, Quantiferon Gold, or T-spot) within 1 year, updated annually; if past positive, clear chest X-ray within 1 year and annual TB questionnaire
  • Immunity or vaccination for:
    • Measles (Rubeola)
    • Mumps
    • Rubella
    • Varicella
    • Hepatitis B (titer, vaccine series, or declination)
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved declination (deadline December 1)
  • N95 fit test within past 12 months (can be completed onsite)
  • Color blind testing required for OB RNs (online or in-person acceptable)

Competency Requirements

  • Medication test/pharmacology competency exam as applicable
  • General competency exam required
  • Annual acknowledgment of OSHA, HIPAA, and Joint Commission safety training

Additional Notes

  • COVID-19 vaccination is not required for this position
  • Performance evaluations and internal evaluations required if employed with the agency for over 1 year
  • Complete employment application and skills checklist for applicable unit required and must be updated annually
