Job Opportunity: CVOR Registered Nurse

Location: Charleston, South Carolina
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks


Job Description

  • Position: Vascular Operating Room Registered Nurse
  • Shift: 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (6:30 AM – 7:00 PM), Monday through Friday (36 hours/week)
  • On-call Requirement: Yes, 6-8 calls per month including weekends; typically 6-7 calls/month currently
  • Holiday Call: May be required
  • Responsibilities: Circulate complex vascular cases (scrubbing experience not required)
  • Common Procedures: Endovascular, TEVAR, FEVAR, AAA, EVAR, cold leg, thrombectomy, amputation, carotid, AV fistula, etc.

Required Qualifications

  • Specialty Experience: Minimum 2 years vascular OR nursing experience
  • Preference: Candidates with 5+ years experience preferred if first-time travelers
  • License: South Carolina RN license or multi-state RN license active and in hand at contract start
  • Certifications:
    • BLS (AHA only)
    • ACLS (AHA only)
  • Radiation Badge: Required; provided by agency before start
  • References: Proof of 2 clinical references or hospital evaluations
  • Employment History: Verification of last 3 clinical employers required

Compliance and Documentation Requirements

  • Background Checks:
    • Annual background check covering all locations lived/worked in past 7 years
    • Includes SSN trace, statewide, national criminal, sex offender registry, FACIS 3, and international searches if applicable
    • EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start and updated for renewals
  • Education Verification: Required; diploma or transcripts accepted as placeholder if needed
  • Licensure Verification: Primary source verification required; must be active, unencumbered, and no pending actions
  • NURSYS Verification: Required for all RNs
  • Drug Testing: 10-panel drug screen within 90 days of start (no instant tests)
  • Physical Exam: Initial and annual physical exam attesting ability to meet job demands
  • Fit Mask Test: N95 fit test within 90 days prior to start, renewed annually (specific mask models required)
  • Immunizations and Titers:
    • Tdap within 10 years or declination form
    • Negative TB test (T-spot or Q-Gold) within 90 days or chest x-ray if prior positive
    • Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella: Positive titer or vaccination series with boosters as needed
    • Hepatitis B: Titer, vaccine series, or declination required
    • Flu Vaccine: Required during flu season (Aug 1 – Mar 31); medical/religious exemptions accepted but no declinations
  • COVID-19 Vaccination: Not required but highly preferred; vaccination records must be uploaded or declination form completed
  • Radiation Badge Attestation: Must be completed prior to start

Orientation and Facility Specifics

  • Orientation Modules: Must be completed prior to start; estimated 2-6 hours depending on location
  • Badge Photo: Clear, passport-style photo required before start (frontal view, solid light background, business casual attire)
  • Parking: Permit required with $20 registration fee for garage use; additional fees may apply for other parking locations
  • Hurricane Season: Travelers may be assigned to emergency response teams June through November; consider before accepting assignment

Additional Notes

  • Local Radius Rule: 60 miles
  • Locals may be considered on a case-by-case basis
  • Time off requests must be submitted with application and approved based on department needs
  • Facility may call off traveler for up to 1 shift per 2-week pay period
