Operating Room Registered Nurse - Travel/Contract

Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Day (4x10 hours), 11:00 AM – 9:30 PM
Hours per Week: 40

Job Summary

Seeking a Registered Nurse for the Operating Room with diverse surgical experience including general OR and specialty procedures across multiple surgical disciplines such as vascular, neuro, gynecology/urology, thoracic, ortho-total joint, and trauma.

Required Qualifications

• Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in New York
• Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including OR experience within the last year
• Completion of at least one travel assignment
• Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification issued by the American Heart Association
• Experience in multiple surgical specialties including:

  • Orthopedic trauma
  • Neurology
  • Obstetrics/Gynecology (OB/GYN)
  • Urology
  • Vascular surgery
  • Thoracic surgery

Work Environment & Schedule

• Day shift with 4 shifts of 10 hours each per week
• Block scheduling may be accommodated but not guaranteed
• No local candidates accepted within 75 miles
• Minimal Return to Origin (RTO) restrictions

Compliance & Onboarding Requirements

• Government-issued photo ID required
• 7-year criminal background check (including felony, SSN trace, sex offender registry, education verification) within 3 months of start
• EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 3 months and updated monthly
• Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable
• Education verification from primary source required (not hard copies)
• Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
• Physical exam within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Fit mask test within 1 year of start, updated annually
• Negative TB test or chest X-ray within 1 year of start, with annual TB questionnaire as applicable
• Required immunizations or proof of immunity:

  • Rubeola (Measles), Mumps, Rubella
  • Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
  • Varicella
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
• Snellen eye exam within 1 year of start
• COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
• Facility-specific documents including photo for badge and completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgment
• References: 2 professional references within 3 years required (for direct hires)
• Employment application and work history verification required

• Pending licenses are not accepted
