Job Description
- Provide patient care following wound, ostomy, and continence nursing guidelines and standards.
- Serve as a liaison for wound, ostomy, and continence care concerns.
- Educate team members and participate in assigned committees.
- Assess physical, psychological, and social needs of assigned patients; initiate data collection and assessments.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary care team to develop and modify patient care plans.
- Implement nursing interventions, medical orders, and related therapies.
- Educate patients and their support systems in collaboration with the healthcare team.
- Monitor and perform routine and complex treatments including ostomy care, wound care with drainage, care of fistulas, percutaneous tubes, and management of fecal and urinary incontinence.
- Document patient care and responses in accordance with professional standards.
- Comply with mandatory reporting, legal consent, transfer protocols, and patient rights.
- Maintain a clean, safe, and secure environment by following safety policies and procedures.
- Handle biomedical, pharmaceutical, hazardous, and universal wastes per regulatory requirements.
- May be required to safely handle hazardous drugs including receipt, storage, compounding, repackaging, dispensing, transporting, and disposal.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Maine
- Ambulatory Care (2 years of experience)
- Ambulatory Care experience within the last year
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Experience in a(n) Inpatient setting
- Continence care experience
- Ostomy care experience
- Wound Care experience
