Description
ICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Odessa, Texas
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (4 shifts of 12 hours each, 18:30 - 7:00)
Hours per Week: 48 hours
Job Description
- Start date preferred within the next 3-5 weeks
- Required to float to Medical-Surgical/Telemetry units if ICU census is low (patient ratios 5-6:1)
- Weekly hours considered: 36 or 48 hours
Required Certifications & Training
- ACLS (AHA only; Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
- BLS (AHA only; Instructor, Provider, or RQI accepted)
- TNCC or TCAR (Trauma Nursing Core Course or equivalent)
- NIH Stroke Certification (required annually for ICU, MS, and MS/Tele RNs)
- EKG course completion (can be provided if needed)
- 6 hours total of Stroke education (can be provided if needed)
- Pass/Fail Testing for EKG and Medication (Pharmacology exam onsite at orientation; 3 attempts allowed)
Required Licenses & Experience
- Valid RN license in Texas
- ICU - Intensive Care Unit experience within the last year (minimum 1 year)
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
Compliance & Background Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID)
- E-Verify or Attestation
- 7-year background check including SS trace, county searches, nationwide, and sex offender registry (must be renewed annually)
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 30 days of start
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start
- Education verification and transcript (if applicable)
- Facility-specific employment documents including standards of conduct, dress code, standards of behavior, and COVID declination (if applicable)
- HIPAA and Fair Warning Quiz Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
- Orientation and Safety Training Modules (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
- Annual TB test/quantiferon (updated if gap >30 days)
Health & Immunization Requirements
- Physical exam within 1 year of start (must be completed within 72 hours of signing contract)
- Fit mask test within 1 year, updated annually (N-95 or approved masks only; PAPR not accepted)
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (PPD, QGold, or TSpot within 1 year; chest X-ray within 2 years if positive)
- Immunizations or positive titers required for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (series, positive titer, or declination)
- Varicella
- Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap vaccine within 10 years
- Seasonal flu vaccine or declination during flu season (Oct-April); mask required if declined
- COVID initial series or facility-specific declination (annual boosters not required)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 30 days of start (includes THC, cocaine, opiates, methamphetamine, PCP, benzodiazepines, barbiturates, methadone, oxycodone)
Additional Requirements
- Two professional references within 3 years
- Resume or employment application copy
- Annual skills checklist update
- Completion of facility-specific forms prior to start (e.g., health record, code of conduct, confidentiality, security agreements, orientation)
