Job Opportunity: Critical Care Float Nurse

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks

Job Description

Float pool position covering Critical Care Units including Surgical ICU (SICU), Medical ICU (MICU), Cardiac Care Unit (CCU), and Oncology ICU (OICU).
Units include three 18-bed ICUs and one 6-bed Oncology ICU.
Patient populations: traumatic injuries, surgical complications, neuro patients, open-heart surgery, critically ill medical comorbidities, cardiac procedure monitoring, oncology patients requiring chemo inductions, DKA, and alcohol withdrawal.
Schedule: Day shift, 3 shifts per week, 12 hours each (7:00 AM – 7:00 PM).
Weekend work required every other weekend (including Saturday and Sunday).
Flexibility in scheduling preferred; holiday shifts may be required.

Required Qualifications

Valid RN license in Virginia.
Minimum 2 years of ICU (Intensive Care Unit) experience, including ICU experience within the last year.
ACLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS) certification.
Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
Float experience in critical care settings.
