Job Opportunity: Oncology Registered Nurse (Travel/Contract)

Location: Newport News, Virginia
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Work on an oncology medical-surgical unit.
  • Chemotherapy certification is not required.
  • Experience with Epic electronic health record system is required.
  • Local candidates are allowed at the same rate.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid, current Registered Nurse (RN) license for Virginia.
  • Government-issued photo ID required.
  • Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification (AHA, ARC, Military, or American Safety & Health Institute; online CPR not accepted).
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) may be required depending on unit specifics—verify with program management if unclear.
  • Stroke education CEUs required annually, with hours depending on unit type (6 hours for medical-surgical units).
  • NIH Stroke Certification required annually for inpatient RNs (not required for OR or PICC).
  • Must complete medication/pharmacology competency exam and other competency exams as applicable within one year of start date.
  • Pass/fail testing (e.g., EKG/medication) will be administered during orientation.

Experience
