Description

Registered Nurse – Telemetry

Location: Meridian, Idaho
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: 12-hour shifts (days or nights available)
Start Date: ASAP


Job Details

  • Unit: Telemetry
  • Bed Count: 27 beds (expanding by 10 beds in June)
  • Nurse-to-Patient Ratio: 1:4
  • Weekend and holiday coverage required
  • No call or standby requirements
  • Floating: May float to similar units, Med/Surg, ICU (if experienced), and nearby medical centers
  • Orientation: System onboarding plus 2 orientation shifts
  • Scrub Color: Any professional, clean, and well-kept

Patient Population & Common Diagnoses

  • Congestive Heart Failure (CHF)
  • NSTEMI, STEMI
  • Stroke
  • Sepsis
  • Diabetes
  • Coronary Artery Disease (CAD)
  • Renal Failure
  • Respiratory Failure
  • Pneumothorax
  • Post cardiac catheterization patients (experience with TR bands and Fem stops preferred)

Required Certifications

  • BLS (Basic Life Support)
  • ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
  • NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification

Experience Requirements

  • Minimum 2 years of experience as a Telemetry nurse
  • Cardiac drip experience required (note: RNs are not required to titrate drips)
  • Experience with NIH stroke assessment
  • Experience in post cardiac catheterization recovery and chest tube care

Clinical & Equipment Information

  • Commonly used medications: set rate diltiazem and amiodarone (no epinephrine or nitroglycerin on this floor)
  • Telemetry monitoring: RNs read and document every 6 hours
  • Monitoring equipment: currently SpaceLab monitors, transitioning to Philips
  • Respiratory therapy equipment managed by RTs: CPAP, BiPAP, high flow oxygen

Additional Notes

  • Telemetry technicians currently on floor until June, then centralized off-site
  • Charge nurse and house supervisor present but do not take patients
  • Nurse aides available with a ratio of approximately 1:8 or 1:9
  • Facility enforces a 50-mile radius rule for candidates’ permanent address

This position is ideal for experienced Telemetry RNs seeking a travel assignment with a well-supported team and diverse cardiac and stroke patient population.
