Job Opportunity: Labor and Delivery Registered Nurse

Location: Saratoga Springs, New York
Employment Type: Travel/Contract
Contract Length: 13 weeks
Shift: Night (3 shifts per week, 12 hours each, 7:00 PM – 7:00 AM)
Hours per Week: 36


Job Description

  • Provide nursing care in Labor and Delivery.
  • Nursery skills are required.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid RN license in New York.
  • Minimum 3 years of Labor and Delivery experience, including experience within the last year.
  • Prior travel nursing experience.
  • Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN).
  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification issued by the American Heart Association or American Red Cross.
  • Current AWHONN Electronic Fetal Monitoring (EFM) certification.
  • Nursery experience.

Location Restriction

  • Candidates with a primary residence within 50 miles of the facility are restricted from contracting if residing in any of these counties:
    Warren, Washington, Fulton, Montgomery, Rensselaer, Saratoga, Schenectady, Albany, Columbia, Greene, Dutchess, Ulster.

Required Documentation & Compliance

  • Government-issued photo ID (Driver’s License or State ID).
  • Background checks including 7-year search, SS trace, county searches, nationwide, sex offender registry, and annual EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks.
  • Negative 10-panel drug screen within 60 days of start (specific LabCorp panel required).
  • Physical exam within 1 year of start; must complete onsite Occupational Health physical including TSH Medical History form.
  • Fit test for N95 mask (3M 1870 quantitative test required if done externally).
  • Negative TB test: 2-step PPD within 1 year and 3 months of start or Quantiferon Gold within 1 year; chest X-ray if prior positive PPD.
  • Immunization or titer proof for:
    • Rubeola (Measles) – 2 MMR boosters or positive titer required.
    • Mumps – 2 MMR boosters or positive titer required.
    • Rubella – 2 MMR boosters or positive titer required.
    • Hepatitis B – Titer, declination, or vaccine series (3 doses).
    • Varicella – 2 boosters or positive titer required.
  • Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required by December 5th, 2024. Masking required if exemption approved.
  • Passport-style photo for badge with specific guidelines (plain background, no hats/sunglasses, neutral/friendly expression).
  • Completion of virtual general orientation and clinical testing modules prior to start date.

Competency & Testing Requirements

  • Medication/Pharmacology competency exam as applicable.
  • Color blindness test preferred.
  • Advanced EKG/ECG test with remediation process if needed (maximum 3 attempts).

Additional Notes

  • Must comply with facility-specific forms and assessments including lift assessment (typically 25 lbs), FCRA authorization release, ECG study guide review, and PPD questionnaire.
  • Occupational Health services billed to agency.
  • References: 2 professional references required for travel, allied, and per diem acute care roles (within 2 years).

This position offers a focused Labor and Delivery nursing role requiring strong clinical experience, certifications, and compliance with New York state and facility-specific regulations.
