Description
NICU Registered Nurse Travel/Contract Position
Location: Rochester, New York
Contract Length: 8 weeks (with possible extension)
Shift: 3x12 hour rotation, Day/Night (07:00-19:00 / 19:00-07:00)
Hours per Week: 36 hours
Weekend: Rotating weekends
Floating: Some floating to Post Partum for baby care
Job Description
- Level 2 NICU unit focused on babies 33 weeks gestation and above, aligned more with Women's Health than critical care.
- Must be able to perform baby catching in the OR for C-section cases.
- Charting experience with EPIC is required.
- Candidates must live more than 75 miles from the facility (no locals).
- First-time travel nurses are accepted.
Required Qualifications
- Valid RN license in New York
- Associate of Science in Nursing / Associate Degree in Nursing
- Minimum 1 year of recent NICU (Neonatal Intensive Care) experience
- Experience with Epic electronic health record system
Health and Compliance Requirements
Candidates must complete the following health-related requirements and lab work within 5 days of signing the contract:
- Physical exam (within 1 year, updated annually)
- Fit mask test (annual) with acceptable mask types or PAPR if failed
- Negative TB test or chest X-ray (within 1 year) or TB questionnaire in lieu of annual renewal
- Immunizations or positive titers for:
- Rubeola (Measles)
- Mumps
- Rubella
- Hepatitis B (surface antibody positive titer, completed series, or declination)
- Varicella
- Drug screening within 30 days of start (includes amphetamines, cocaine, fentanyl, heroin, opiates, etc.)
- Seasonal flu vaccination or signed declination during flu season
- Snellen eye exam (within 1 year)
- COVID vaccination copy preferred but not required
Background and Verification Requirements
- Government-issued photo ID required.
- 7-year criminal background check within 3 months of start (including felony checks, SSN trace, national criminal, sex offender, education verification).
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks within 3 months of start, updated monthly.
- Foreign education equivalency evaluation if applicable.
- Education verification from primary source required (no hard copy degrees).
- Employment application and work history verification required.
- References: 2 references within 3 years required for Aya candidates.
- NURSYS verification for RN license within 30 days of start.
- Primary source verification of state license within 30 days of start.
- Color blindness testing required once.
Facility-Specific Requirements
- Photo for badge (passport-style with solid background).
- Completion of orientation safety manual acknowledgement.
- Completion of facility-specific pre-employment compliance attestations and new hire forms.
- Parking pass form required for orientation.
Additional Notes
- Floating to Post Partum for baby care may be required.
- This position is not for local candidates; must reside more than 75 miles away.
