Job Opportunity: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN) - Travel/Contract

Shift Details
- Weekend position: every Saturday and Sunday, plus one rotating weekday each week
- Shift hours: Day shift, 7:00 AM to 7:30 PM (12-hour shifts)
- Total hours per week: 36
Unit and Patient Population
- Operating Room Core 6
- Units include Core 3 & 4: General Surgery, Plastic, Gynecology, ENT, Trauma, Neuro, Orthopedics, GU, Colorectal Robotics
- Average daily census: 70-80 patients
- Number of rooms: 21
Requirements/Qualifications
- Valid RN license in Indiana
- Minimum 3 years of Operating Room (OR) experience, including experience within the last year
- Experience working with Level 1 Trauma patients
- BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Associate of Science in Nursing (ASN) or Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN)
Required Certifications and Licenses
- Additional certifications may be required depending on cost center (e.g., ACLS, PALS, TNCC, etc.)
- Valid Driver’s License or Passport (clear copy required)
Schedule and Work Conditions
- No block scheduling
- Floating within scope of practice to meet facility needs
- Weekend and rotating weekday schedule must be accepted by candidate
Facility and Documentation Requirements
- Short-term acute care facility
- Charting system: Cerner
- Free parking provided
- Scrub color provided
Health and Compliance Requirements
- Physical exam within 12 months of start
- Fit mask test within 12 months (specific respirators required)
- Negative 10-panel drug screen within 12 months
- Immunizations and titers required: Measles, Mumps, Rubella, Varicella, Hepatitis B, Tetanus/Diphtheria/Tdap (strongly recommended)
- TB test (PPD, QuantiFERON, or T-SPOT) within 1 year; chest x-ray if positive history
- Seasonal flu vaccination or approved medical/religious exemption required for flu season (9/30 - 3/31)
- Color blind exam (Ishihara or equivalent) required
- HIPAA and facility-specific compliance forms must be completed prior to start
Background and Employment History
- Background check required within 90 days of start, including 7-year work/living history and education verification
- EPLS/GSA/SAM and HHS/OIG checks required within 30 days of start
- Minimum of 2 professional references from recent employment verified within 2 years
- Current employment application with explanation of any gaps over 30 days (covering 7 years)
- Skills checklist required within 12 months and annually
Additional Notes
- Indiana RN’s are generally restricted from working at the facility after 11/30/2024, but Perioperative/OR RNs and certain allied/ambulatory RNs are exempt and may continue working past this date.
- Candidates must confirm availability for weekend and rotating weekday shifts before submission.
